<p>I figure I’ll probably spend about $1000 altogether, which is a great deal more than I had anticipated. So how much is this costing you?</p>
<p>4 grad schools at about $70 application fee each = about $280
GRE test fee = $115
bus and taxi fare to get to the city where the GRE was administered = $70
GRE practice book = $20
taking a day off work to take the test = $70
printing 7 copies of my senior thesis, one for each application and recommender, at about $20 apiece = $140
five copies of transcripts from each of two undergrad colleges = $50
miscellaneous postage and printing costs = $30
hotel and bus to Chicago for interview with grad school professor = $140
having slides made of my work = $100</p>
<p>My breakdown:</p>
<p>Application fees: $265 (for 5 schools)
Transcript fees (2/4 of my institutions charge): $108
GRE fees (sending them to 5 schools): $60</p>
<p>That totals to $433…but I decided not to re-take the GRE’s, so that helps out a ton!</p>
<p>I’m hoping for free trips to all the schools I get into…especially since I’ve never been to any of them before!</p>
<p>oy.
11 applications + GRE general + Gre subject + transcripts from undergrad + transcripts from grad + 2 gre books + postage = approx. $1,000.

<p>8 schools * $70 = $560
GRE general = $115
GRE subject = $130
2 GRE books = $50
Extra GRE reports = $60
Subway/cab fare to GRE tests = $15
Kahlua for post-GRE party = $15
