So how much "senioritis" is okay?

I was accepted to U of M early action and now that it is second semester, I am wondering how much slacking would be guaranteed to pass through admissions. (I definitely do not want to cause any trouble or red flags). Absolute worst case scenario would be all B’s; is that okay, even though I had all A’s first semester? I don’t think I would ever be able to let myself slack off that much, but I am still curious. Any current students that want to share the slacking they managed to get away with would also help. Thanks!

None?
Why would you want to aim for the lowest you can “get away with”?

Well I am not really aiming for that since that’d be way too risky, I am mostly just curious haha. I think I’ll end up with 2 Bs and 4 As, but if I were to get all B’s I wonder how that’d play out.

You’ll be fine. Takes C/D/Es for them to even contact you.

What about a significant drop in class rank due to all B’s?

You’ll be fine UMI will not worry about a thing like that… it is very hard to get rescinded. Even if you end up with C/D/E they will give you a chance to explain yourself. Bs are nothing to worry about, even if that’s your grade in every single class. If you can pull off 4.0 first semester, you could at least get a half As/half Bs second semester no?

Universities do not care if a senior report card is filled with Bs. But if you have Cs or lower, then you could be asked to explain the drop.

You better get this “senioritis” mentality out of our system now. There will not be any slacking off during your time at UMich and when you will be looking for a job.

With all due respect, I think senioritis is a normal and healthy aspect of a senior’s life. It’s only for second semester when “grades don’t matter” (as long as you keep your year average above a B). Most overachieving high school students get little to no sleep every night while trying to maintain a perfect GPA, run every club, etc., so I think the OP deserves a break.

Exactly @enigmaticescape. I don’t think it’s too unreasonable to take a break for the first time in 4 years and not stay up until 2:30 a.m. every night anymore. So I am just wondering, now that this opportunity has finally come, how cautious I should be about it all lol. I’m going to aim for what I’ve always been getting, but if I happen to get a B+ instead of an A-, no worries.

As long as you don’t have any C’s or didn’t change your senior schedule too much, you won’t hear from them. Another word of caution though: research has linked strong senior year grades in high school as having the highest correlation to a better gpa in your first year of college. Give yourself a little break and just study until 1:30 a.m. each night.

Not sure about your experience, but I’ve noticed from my time that “learning the material” and “getting an A” are twi different things. Don’t slack on learning the material! But as long as you can do that and still get at least a B, I think you’re fine
