So I failed band..Do I explain to UC?

Already been accepted, but, I took band pass/fail, meaning that any grade under "A is fail, and I didn’t tell my conductor that I’d be going to ARML (math contest, we actually got 3rd nationally) instead of his concert until two days before. Thus, I think failed band fourth quarter. Should I explain to Chicago, and who to?

I don’t understand the incentive in taking a class pass/fail if any grade less than an ‘A’ is fail. Generally, you take a class pass/fail if any grade less than a ‘C’ or ‘D’ is fail.

It doesn’t go on my gpa, and since band is not honors, I pretty much need to.

Well, congrats on the math contest, anyway. I think that you might think about calling/emailing your regional admissions officer to let them know (out of courtesy and for your own peace of mind). As long as your academic grades are decent I don’t think it will be a problem.
