so....I got in

I am a freshman at Cornell, and just got reaccepted to Rice as a transfer

i am really not sure if i am ready for the move to houston, tx, what you guys think?

I love Rice btw

I was just admitted as well.

I am not sure if I am ready to move either!!!

the weather is sure jolly in tx compared to ithaca, ny (!!!)

haha/ this is like the 3rd person i have heard that transfers out of cornell for rice…if you do engineering,. go for it. rice is nice

Definitely!

so nspeds you finally conquered the beast…congrats

congrats both of you !

“rice is nice” :)

Thanks : )

Now for a whole month of deliberation…

argh : (

Admission Status: Admit.

I’m in Plan II at UT right now.

OMG I’M SO EXCITED RICE IS MY DREAM SCHOOL!!! WOOOOOOOOOO

Also, I heard something like half of admitted transfer students don’t enroll. Maybe people just get too settled in…

1/2 of admitted freshman students don’t enroll, either…

…now all we need is housing.

congrats to all of you! all of the transfers i’ve met ended up on campus their first yr…so you guys probably have a better chance than you would think. i’m gonna try to get off the dang waitlist gosh dangit! what do you guys think about sending in extra recs and a letter?

You should do that.

The problem is that I have absolutely no waitlist experience. It has either been acceptances or rejections for me.

i met a cornell transfer when i was at rice, apparently some people do that. Rice is awesome. the weather rules. beautiful campus. nice people.

i’m really surprised that there are this many Cornell transfers or people that turned down Cornell admission.

but it looks like it is Rice for me! I’m in the process of convincing my parents and plan to send in the forms Monday.

i hear it was easier to get into cornell this year than rice.

I am at the moment vacillating between UChicago and Rice.

to nspeds, it would seem to me that the core at chicago is a big deal (schedule freedom being the point). although there are distribition requirements, you can fulfill the majority easily within the phil dept alone. personally if i went to u of c junior year i would have to do all this stuff that is introductory and mandatory, which is not what rice is like at all. perhaps this is something to consider?

yup, I’m one of them…I turned down Cornell and am going to be a freshman at Rice next year. I just liked the lively, friendly environment at Rice/Houston better, and the students seemed happier. Plus, money factors (I didn’t get any aid/scholarship anywhere)…Rice is just naturally cheaper.
