So I got two mails about an alumni based scholarship..

What concerns me is that the application deadline (February) for these two scholarship (from UC-Riverside and UC-Berkeley) are before I get my acceptance/rejection letter which is in March.

My question is if I fill out the application and send it, does it mean that I have already pledged myself to attend that school if accepted to that school? And if I do get awarded with that scholarship, am I automatically binded to that school and must attend there if I get accepted?

Until I get my acceptance/rejection letter, I’m more focused on general grants and scholarships that I could use for any school.

I might contact them soon and ask about this, and about the fact that I can’t meet them for the interview(s).

Appy for the alumni $ at both schools; every one is offered that opportunity. You would still need to go through an interview and you will not hear whether you are awarded the Alumni until late April, they have to delete all the semi-finalists who are not admitted. It is a good scholarship, it does not reduce other grant aid. You are not obligated to attend that school. When people are awarded it, and it goes by geographic area, sometimes the 1st choice chooses another school, then the 2nd choice student in that area gets the award.
