Hey guys I need help. My aunt happens to be rich and wants to buy me a laptop. I’ve been looking at the hp hdx 18t decked out after coupons and stuff with quad core, 6 or 8gb ddr3 ram, 320 gb 7200 rpm harddrive. Any other suggestions for laptops?

Would you guys suggest getting a desktop and a net book instead of that giant but beautiful HD monster? If so, what do y’all recommend?

I’m looking mostly for performance and entertainment with a few games here and there, and I hate macs (sorry to all you mac lovers, but I don’t find it intuitive)

I would spend the money on RAM, HD, and processor speed (and graphics card if you’re a gamer). You could upgrade to blu ray but I personally don’t find high definition practical on a monitor under 20 inches.

With all the Mac fanbois on here, I’m suprised this thread has gotten so many replies without a single mention of those shiny overpriced trinkets :P

Your aunt’s giving you 2k to spend on a computer? You lucky *******…

Only joking, lol. GL choosing one :). Check that it can run next-gen games like Oblivion and Crysis if you’re into that sort of thing (like I am).

I would buy a nice laptop with a medium-size screen (14"-15"), then I would buy a monitor (22"-24" widescreen), keyboard and mouse that you could plug into when sitting at your desk. An external drive too.

And yes, if someone handed me $2K, I’d be buying a MacBook Pro in a second.

I agree with the desktop laptop combo as others have said…along with the fact that you really are a lucky ■■■■■■■ lol. My aunt said she was gonna buy me a laptop too, we even gave her money towards it. I found one I loved for about 1100. Seems like she thinks even that’s too much.
