So I took my SATs

A little about me before I took the test- high school drop out got my GED, IQs in the 130 range on a full nights sleep, took a semester at a community college (will be going to USM next semester though yay), only studied the day before the test, studied algebra 2 material for the the math section (no geometry or algebra 1), slept for 3 hours before the test

I was completely at a loss for most of the math section as it was material I had covered back in 03/04

Thought I had 50 minutes to do the essay section… I had my 5 paragraphs all planned out… As I was getting done with the second I heard the teacher say (5 minutes left) I was like “oh ****” and scribbled in a third paragraph that didn’t reach the second page… got a 6 out of 12 (So I lost roughly 120 points on that as opposed to a 12 out of 12)

I got a 660 on the reading (what I thought before the test I would bomb)

480 on the math

550 on the writing

Think if I actually studied I could get my score into the 2000 range for the next test? Keep in mind I’ll have a full college semester of general education courses under my belt

lol nevermind… I forgot what kind of stigma dropping out is… I don’t know why I’m being self conscious anyway, I know I’ll be able to

A straight deviation conversion from IQ 135 -> SAT would suggest a baseline score of around 2000. Of course, as you seem to have realized, the SAT isn’t an IQ test (though it does help a lot to have a nice fat one). You need to study the test and it’s good to have at least a faint idea of where you are and what’s happening on test day.

If the 1690, which you got, is in fact what you are capable of as a baseline (if the three hours of sleep, etc didn’t really make an impact, which they probably did) it would be very tough, but very possible to get 2000+

If we assume your baseline to be around 1800 (after you get some shuteye and right a decent essay) then you’d probably be able to expect a 2000+ if you studied a lot.

yeaahhh… Idk writing is my strongest area academically I feel if I actually executed the entire essay I would have gotten a 12 out of 12

then with the sleep thing that hurts comprehension, but with me in particular it hurts it drastically

so on a good day I probably would be around 1800-1850 just because a 12 on the essay alone would have put me at 1810

did no relative studying (studied quadratic functions and polynomials and all that) and math this the only subject that takes real studying… so I figure if I could jack the math score up to like 650-700 I’d be good
