So I was told I don't have a place to live if I can't hit 2300

I’m currently at:

~600CR (This is because of Sentence Completion. I could get 700-750 consistently if I got all of the Sentence Completion Questions right)
~800M (Sometimes I miss 1-3 for stupid reasons. It is rather frustrating)
~700W (I seem to consistently miss 4-6 easy writing questions every time. I know I can fix this.)

So to get that golden 2300 score, I was wondering how to improve on my vocabulary? I ordered Direct Hits Vol. 1 and 2, as that seems to help people, but will these two books ensure most, if not all, right on SC questions? What is realistic that I can do to ensure only 1-2 wrong on the SC questions?

I am a junior and taking the SAT in either Oct or Nov. I really want 2300+ so I can focus on self-study AP tests, subject tests, and grades for the rest of the year.

Thanks!

Harsh, kicking you out of the house if you don’t get 2300?

If you are a rising junior, you have time. Why not take it March or June next year? You’ll have the majority of the year under your belt, learning. And you will have lots of time to study. Just don’t take in May when AP test take place. There are lots of vocabulary books out there. Check threads for recommendations.

do all of the above ^^^

and if they threaten to kick you out again…call child services and amnesty international…

haha i’m aiming for a 2300 too! and i have DH too. but my highest so far was 2080…sighhh
CR’s my weakest too :frowning: but i think i’m a mix of bad in both sentence completions and the reading questions. good luck! i think DH and reading NY Times plus some other word lists will expand your vocab.

^ Good point. I had a friend, back in the day, who had perfect SATs and her advice was read the newpaper.

I took the Official SAT Course Online and it really helped! Also, try doing the SAT question of the day every day, but I recommend doing it first thing when you wake up in the morning! It may sound crazy, but it helps! =)

Good luck with the SAT, I’m sure you’ll do fine!

yeah as an international aiming at top schools (for their finaid):
If i don’t get 2300 or above in the sat::
THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ME IN THE USA!!!

Well… you better get moving then!

I am an international requiring aid too… and reading such posts make me feel like tearing all the SAT books and deleting all the materials and essays…

Because I can’t even think of reaching 2300 SAT I … and this is my only chance to have an academic career…

All of my savings are already vanquished on SAT I , SAT II and TOEFL registrations and little left will be gone by admissions on sending scores and applying… So, Please anyone post something inspiring rather than frightening…
