It’s OEX - expect a crazy week.

Nah…

Yes - I’ve got spy and qqq calls expiring the 17th.

You’re probably doing really well today with them.

Calls?

It is quadruple witching…

I don’t think it matters that much…

Yes I own many calls, call spreads and sell puts. I’m planning on buying a 500 call, 565 put and selling a 600 call, 530 put in aapl for april.

Just saw a poll asking “Is your family’s financial situation better, the same or worse than it was four years ago?”

Only 20% answered ‘better’.

stock market does not reflect the current state of economy in the USA.

I saw a poll that says the opposite

I would think we are better off then 4 years ago, even considering the housing crash

I looks like no new taxes this legislative session because our state’s revenues (taxes) are at or above projections, so much better than the catfight they had at the end of last session trying to close the gap between spending and projections.

Personally, our family is in a better place, as we get closer and closer to paying our last tuition check and S with a well-paying full-time job with good benefits! We’re hoping D will finish her studies and get a job that she can handle and will pay her enough to at least cover her expenses.

Doct …that’s interesting…you are risking about 7 to make 28 (if the stock goes to 600 ). As long as the stock stays above 530…

exactly and I’ll have a stop at 530. Apple is too volatile trying to sell with a 7 pt loss. This gives me room on the downside until earnings.

You are going to buy the 530 puts back if the stock hits 530? … Which means you are risking more…than 7…

And you can’t sell stock at 530 instead of covering the puts…because then you are going to be short until 565…

In reality…you are risking more than 7

Tatin, what poll are you looking at? Bloomberg’s poll out today shows:

[Bloomberg Poll: Americans More Optimistic - Newsmax](http://www.newsmax.com/US/poll-americans-optimistic-obama/2012/03/13/id/432290)

I’d say that there was more optimism given retail sales and consumer credit numbers. There may be some demographics skewing towards the high end but the macro numbers point to more optimism.

CBS NEWS poll dated March 12 available on their website.

Tatin, that’s the same poll where 54% think a president has significant control over gas prices.

Our structural engineering design work is definitely picking up - a lot. As in, my husband and I aren’t getting much sleep at night, we’re working so late (we have a mom-and-pop firm). One of our main clients is a larger architecture/engineering firm. They are just swamped with work, so they give us the overflow. We haven’t been this busy in several years, although we actually did pretty well last year.

That’s definitely good news - I assume that your work translates to construction at some point too so jobs that you get have a multiplier effect.
