Hi,
I am a rising Junior and a biology major at Cornell University. I have no idea what to do when I graduate which will probably be a semester early due to having the requisite credits and financial need. I have not thrived in college and these have not been my best years by any means. My GPA is OK, about a 3.4 but I have no research or really any other extra curriculars or work experience to speak of. I have found Cornell University to be overwhelming and competitive as heck so I have pretty much just kept my head down and plowed through. My favorite or best subject though has been organic chemistry which I have gotten an A- in. I have not been able to transfer my major to chemistry as I am in CALS due to financial reasons and this college within Cornell does not offer this option.
I am wondering if anyone could suggest potential graduate programs in chemistry that I must consider.applying to? I pretty much need a grad program that is going to prepare me for a career. Is it even possible to become a chemical engineer without an undergraduate degree in this discipline? Are there other chem programs that are career focused that I should consider?
I know I sound vague, I am by nature an introvert and have been overwhelmed with the uncertainty of my future.Thank you for any suggestions!

The first thing you should do is to start looking for a job instead of looking for a graduate program. Once you have some work experience, it will be clearer to you whether a Masters degree is in your best interests. Go to the Career Center at Cornell and start looking into what positions you can look for next summer as an intern and get advice on building your resume. You still have time to do it and to get involved in research if you want to.

Thank you, I plan on going to the career center.
