So much nicer when flight cancelled BEFORE leaving for airport

Read an article about this and how the jugpdgment calls are made on whether to cancel flights. It epwas in the latest Time magazine I believe. This morning at 7am, we were told our -AA flight was cancelled by robocall. Turns out it was S’s flight, since we rarely book AA, but my sleepy brain didn’t register it until H suggested it over lunch and we texted S to confirm.

He was happily enjoying a lazy snow day in his home instead of being stranded in a cold airport, tarmac or worse. It was nice of the airlines to vptry notifying passengers early so they could figure out how to reschedule. S was optimistic he will get to LA tomorrow. ;)

It looks like both IAD and DCA were closed; not sure about BWA, but we usually stick with the other two.

Airlines do it so they won’t be on the hook for a hotel room in the layover stop.

Airlines no longer have this policy, GMT. Travelers are on their own if the delay is due to weather.
