<p>Hello all.</p>
<p>I’m applying to Kenyon, Carleton and Reed this year (probably as a transfer student). I’m concerned a bit about my high school GPA and my SAT I. Sorry for the long post! I’d really appreciate some feedback, I’m incredibly nervous. </p>
<p>So I think people just put up stats like this:</p>
<p>Female from India</p>
<p>SAT I 2170 (CR 800 M 610 W 760)</p>
<p>I’m currently enrolled at a college in Mumbai, taking sociology, political science, philosophy, archaeology, English, and a required course that is essentially Indian civics. I’ve got 6.6 out of 7 GPA.
This year, I’m secretary of the English Literary Society, class representative for freshman political science at the College Union Committee, won an essay contest at a national seminar on the Indian Armed Forces in policy-making, and I’ve just been accepted into the honors program.
I’ve interned with a huge literature festival and edited their magazine, planned sessions, and interviewed authors, and I’m also interning at a newspaper in Mumbai.
I’ve got cracker recommendations from my high school English teacher, my current English teacher, my political science teacher, the editor of a newspaper I interned with in high school, and the director of the literature festival I interned with this year.</p>
<p>My high school GPA was 3.67 UW out of 4 (on a side note I was in boarding school)
I kinda slacked off in ninth and a little bit of tenth grade and then pulled my grades up</p>
<p>I’ve taken 8 APs (over grades 10, 11, and 12):
AP English literature and AP English language (both A pluses with excellent recommendation letters from each teacher)
AP comparative government and politics (A+)
AP world (A+), US (A+) and European history (A+),
AP Physics B (B+),
AP Calculus AB (B+)
Great IGCSEs too</p>
<p>Besides that, ECs and other stuff in high school:</p>
<p>I’ve taken journalism (and written for and edited my school newspaper for 2 years–significant because I tried my hand at profiles investigative pieces quite successfully in stories on some of my school’s side projects), </p>
<p>volunteer tutor for several subjects every week, including US, European and World history, as well as English</p>
<p>volunteer writing coach</p>
<p>entered and won essay contests, (I got graded a 97% for an essay I wrote for a world literature symposium for my literature class which I presented later on to a panel of teachers and peers blah blah)</p>
<p>translated a collection of Indian poetry into English (which has been published), </p>
<p>interned with a major Indian newspaper for six weeks when I was 16 (and published many interviews–literary and otherwise–and reports on an anti-corruption movement really exploding at the time), </p>
<p>been the lead in several plays for which I’ve won awards (Macbeth in Macbeth, John Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest, Girl 1 in Check Please, Ysabell in Terry Pratchett’s Mort, Bacchus in Euripides’ Bacchae), </p>
<p>written an adaptation of Just So Stories for the stage and directed the same production, </p>
<p>I’ve got subject awards for history, English, and in general, writing</p>
<p>3 MUN conferences (UNEP, ECOSOC, Security Council)</p>
<p>Service trip to Dharamshala during which I designed a research project I wrote about later and submitted to be presented back at school
