So what about BO's birth certificate?

Mine (from NY, in 1957) has a ‘Color or Race’ box for each of the parents, along with where they were born.

An American baby born elsewhere is issued a document from the
State Department “U.S. Citizen Born Abroad”. Be sure to bring it with
when you get your passport renewed or run for President.

You don’t need it to get a passport renewed. Just for the original one. My oldest was born overseas. Haven’t used it since we got his original passport at 3 months old.

He might just need it to run for President though.

I still have trouble believing that if Obama were not eligible to run, someone wouldn’t have said something by now. As for what religion his parents were, whether they were married or even what his first name really is. Is any of that relevant? What else can people possibly look for to blame him for?

“But back to the OP – why do we care about Obama’s birth certificate? Or – radical idea – is this thread just a ■■■■■ to stir up trouble?”

Veryhappy, why would I be trying to stir up trouble? I am just asking a simple question. There are dozens of threads aimed at criticizing Hillary and McCain… “McCain’s Website”, “Tennessee GOP stoops to attacking and distorting Michelle Obama” “Wall Street Journal Article on Clinton campaign”…

Last time I checked this website was not called Obama Confidential.

I don’t get it – who says he was born outside the U.S.? Hawaii is, as was already pointed out, part of the U.S.

Unless someone has actual evidence he wasn’t born in Hawaii, why should nonsensical speculation be dignified with releasing an irrelevant document?

I’d also like to point out that in order to get a passport – which he obviously has – he would have been required to provide evidence (specifically, a birth certificate) to show that he was a U.S. citizen.

When exactly did George Bush release his birth certificate? Hillary Clinton? Kerry? Gore? Dole? Reagan? Nixon? Any other candidate? I hereby start a rumor that every last one of them was born in Moscow, in the former Soviet Union. Why have their birth certificates been hidden? Release them now!

Donna

As I’ve stated earlier, I think the whole issue is ridiculous. However, a U.S. birth certificate is not always needed as evidence that you’re a citizen in order to obtain a passport. There are obviously many citizens who do not have a U.S. birth certificate. This is, as I said, neither here nor there, and I don’t know who it is who is saying that he was born outside of the U.S. I haven’t been able to find any reputable news source which details the questioning.

There’s a website that pokes fun at the whole speculation issue by making the case that Senator Obama is actually Senator McCain’s love child. Please understand, it’s NOT serious. It’s showing how silly all the speculation is.

He was born in Hawaii. That much has been verified as he was born in a medical center in Honolulu. That makes him a US citizen. Whatever the reason, that is not it.

The speculation is that he was actually born in Kenya. I’m NOT saying that is true or even serious. A lot of the speculation is silly and intended to be so.

I have read the speculation. However, I read in a reliable source that he was born in Hawaii. The hospital was located and checked. Can’t remember the name of it.

I suspect that his birth certificate may show his religion as muslim or some other info that might be inflammatory to many voters. He has already been vetted as eligible to run as president, so that is not the issue.

I don’t believe a birth certificate lists the baby’s religion. Only that of the parents. We already know that.

Well, what’s true is true and hiding the fact is not allowed. He’d just have to explain it. You don’t get to hide things when you run for President just because it might look bad.

Some states just have a block for religion. Don’t know if Hawaii is one of them. Basically if that is the case, it is the religion chosen for the child by the parents.

His religion, as well as all it’s inflammatory associations:rolleyes:, has been vetted, too. Ad nauseum. Even if his birth certificate listed muslim as his father’s religion, the ability to worship is yet to be discovered in newborns. I rather doubt that the parent’s religion has ever been required information on a Hawaiian birth certificate.

My guess is that extensive polling has shown that the info on it can hurt him immensely.

Obama had a self-admitted problem with his own identity, which he has detailed in his writings. And it is no wonder–it sounds to me as if both his mother and father were not the most stable of individuals. (Others are free to interpret his childhood and adolescence differently.)

Since this is the case, why should anyone be surprised when the voting public has questions about this very same identity?

It seems rather facile of Barack to continually say that anyone questioning his past or his judgment and honesty (such as his choice of his primary VP vetter, Jim Johnson, a D.C. insider when he is running as an “outsider”) is “just playing the game,” when his history shows he is more than willing to play that game when it suits his own personal ambitions.

Johnson just resigned his position.

“It seems rather facile of Barack to continually say that anyone questioning his past or his judgment and honesty (such as his choice of his primary VP vetter, Jim Johnson, a D.C. insider when he is running as an “outsider”) is “just playing the game,” when his history shows he is more than willing to play that game when it suits his own personal ambitions.”

You mean he wants it both ways? Not Obama!

According to the Washington Post Obama’s father is identified as Arabic in his own birth records not “African Negro.” So maybe his father’s race is listed as Arabic on his too.
