But Arabic is not a race. It’s not even a religion. It’s a language, is it not? Also a region of the world.

Maybe it’s the time-honored reason–lying about his age?

He should just release it and be done with it. Hard to complain about rumors when you have to take days/weeks to come up with a decision/response.

Maybe his last name was listed as his mother’s.

Do you people think the dude filled out his own birth certificate? I mean, he’s really smart and all, but I find that hard to accept.

Funny you should say that–I’m getting the feeling that Barry’s not quite as smart as he thinks he is.

He was smart enough to figure out how to beat Hillary Clinton, who supposedly had the nomination in the bag. I’m sorry, but you’d better stick with the Scary Black Man meme; the Stupid Black Man is probably not going to fly.

Hunt, why is it that you liberals inevitably have to bring race into it and distort every comment that isn’t complimentary of your candidate?

Because it’s so obvious that conservatives are searching around for the right approach to smear Obama with. It’s ridiculous to suggest that he’s not intelligent; but still we get the “post turtle” idea and posts like ilsa belter’s #65. We’ve already seen all the stuff suggesting he’s some kind of Farrakhan-loving racist maniac, and I guess it’s time to suggest he’s not all that bright, either. I just get tired of it.

^^Yes, that was a bit over the top, Hunt (#66)

You can call us (pro-Hillary, anti-BO supporters) “stoopid” but we can’t even say “not quite as smart as he thinks he is.” hmmmmm…

My biggest gripe against BO is just that–his hubris. Just what I said, I believe he is, actually, NO WHERE NEAR as smart as he thinks he is, because if he were, he would KNOW he is not ready for the Presidency of the United States. I believe it is his fatal flaw, and I do not trust him for it. It goes way beyond the audacity of hope or the audacity of ambition, which in his case are interchangeable, imo.

Funny because I read ilsa’s comment as stating he should have just released the birth certificate as by not releasing it, the rumor mills are in full operation. So maybe it wasn’t such a smart move.

You’re reaction, as is typical of a liberal knee jerk reaction, is based on emotion.

And again, this is a discussion board that consists of “opinions”. And when the opinion stated doesn’t fit the liberal agenda, the liberals play the race card and label and categorize the opposing opinions.

If the rumor mill gets too busy, he might as well release it unless the info in it is more damning than what the talk is doing. They will poll it and make a decision. Rest be assured he is a US citizen born in Hawaii. My guess is the religion on the bc.

“NO WHERE NEAR as smart as he thinks he is, because if he were, he would KNOW he is not ready for the Presidency of the United States.”

So the roughly 18 million people who voted for him aren’t that smart either, I guess? Nor the roughly 45% of the electorate who currently express an intention to vote for him?

There seems to be a presumption that if he is withholding the birth certificate, it is because it indicates he is a Muslim. But his mother was an atheist. Would it hurt him more if his mother had filled out “no religion” as opposed to his father filling out “Muslim” (which is debatable because at that time, his father had lost his faith, I believe).

“So the roughly 18 million people who voted for him aren’t that smart either, I guess? Nor the roughly 45% of the electorate who currently express an intention to vote for him?”

Not that they aren’t smart, they just hate Goerge Bush and are so wrapped up in Obama’s charisma that they dismiss all the disturbing little issues that surround him. They overlook his inexperience. They overlook his associations over the years. Anything to get as far away from GWB politics as possible.

Emotional voters, not stupid.

Obama had a really animated and enthusiastic pastor and an associate that made mistakes. Those small details aren’t any scarier than Arkanside, Whitewater, a supposed illegitimate child, reputed of misogynist comments, a bad temper, past corruption, or a wife with a drug addiction.

Also: Most voters are emotional.

The greatest respect we can give Obama is if we feel free, indeed entitled, to criticize him as a man, and leave his race out of it. He is not a child. He is running for the most powerful elected office in the land, if not the world. Whining about the unfairness of criticism toward him diminishes not just him, but his supporters.

People didn’t like Hillary whining about her treatment either, although for the most part she “took it like a man.”

Somehow I can’t see McCain whining about anything.

“Not that they aren’t smart, they just hate Goerge Bush and are so wrapped up in Obama’s charisma that they dismiss all the disturbing little issues that surround him. … Emotional voters, not stupid.”

Why would hatred for George Bush prompt people to choose Obama over Hillary? I would never confuse Bush with Hillary, especially given that on her most famous issue (health care), she’s to the left of Obama (requiring universal participation vs. Obama’s plan that allows individuals to opt out).

Also, if Obama’s voters were emotional voters relative to Hillary voters, how do you explain the strong preference of highly educated people for Obama versus Hillary? The more education you have, the more likely you are to ignore the issues and vote with your gut? That doesn’t make a lot of sense.

As is typical with these threads on CC, the discussion morphs away from the original points.

A poster pointed out that maybe BO wasn’t as smart as he thinks he is… (based on not releasing his birth certificate which is causing the rumor mill to be in overdrive)…which led to a racial stereotyping of “Scary Black” vs. “Stupid Black” ???..this led to someone posting the question does that mean that the people that voted for BO aren’t smart… now a post that Obama supporters are smarter than Hillary supporters…

Also the poster who pointed out that BO’s hubris is a downfall because he doesn’t even realize he is not ready for this position… that observationsjust gets buried in all the bull**** that is posted subsequently.

“now a post that Obama supporters are smarter than Hillary supporters…”

Not smarter. More educated. Which is a matter of empirical fact.

Wow, I keep going back over this thread, looking for the one Obama posted, whining about how he’s being treated, but somehow, I keep missing it…
