So...what are my chances that I get in NOWHERE?

<p>Pretty much title of thread. My dad has recently raised concerns that I didn’t apply to any “real” safety schools, and its gotten me a bit worried. So it’s a bit atypical, but what are the chances that I get in absolutely nowhere?</p>

<p>Ethnicity: Dual citizen - Colombia/ US (live in US)</p>

<p>SAT I: 2200
SAT II: US History - (740); Spanish w/ Listening - (760)
AP: USH (3)
Class rank: School doesn’t rank, within top 10% out of 205.</p>

<p>Course load</p>

<p>9- all honors
10- all honors
11- all honors, 1 AP
12- final schedule: AP English, AP Spanish, AP Psychology, AP Euro History, Calculus H, theology 12 (required) (MAX APs allowed per year: 4)</p>

<p>GPA through end of Junior year: 3.9
GPA first semester Senior year: 4.0</p>

<p>EC</p>

<p>Sport- Crew
9- 2nd in state (freshman)
10- 4th in state (varsity)
11- 3rd in state (varsity)
12- season hasn’t started</p>

<p>Year round training. Schedule can’t fit time for many clubs after school.</p>

<p>1 month internship at country club under the general manager</p>

<p>2 weeks Building houses in Guatemala over Junior year winter</p>

<p>1 month teaching English to poor children in Colombia</p>

<p>Secretary/Treasurer Junior Statesmen of America</p>

<p>So those are my stats and such. Here are the schools I’m applying to:</p>

<p>So, yeah, what are the chances I go 0 for 12?</p>

<p>My guess, and it is only a guess, is that you will not go 0 for 12. But I see your dad’s concern that there are no real safeties. Your best chance would be Bucknell and Boston College.</p>

<p>Definitely is no safety on this list, which was incredibly stupid and arrogant of you. However, you have decent stats and ECs. It’s really unlikely that you’ll get rejected at all of them. You’ve got a darn good shot at about 4 of those, so you can expect at least one acceptance. If you were highly ranked in the state for Crew… why didn’t you try to get recruited? Regardless, I bet the crew participation will help a ton, given the rankings.</p>

<p>I’d search immediately for a safety where the application deadline has not expired. For example, I don’t think Temple University’s deadline has expired. </p>

<p>If nothing else, you will sleep better.</p>

<p>I doubt you will get in with an unhooked 2200 at any of the ivies, but you will get BC…trust me, I know some real idiots there.</p>

<p>BC is definitely a safety for your level. All the rest are reaches. But I’ve never heard of Lehigh/Colgate/Bucknell/Wake Forest. Their admission rates are probably near BC, more or less. So I’d consider them a safety. But what you’re lacking is financial safety. I don’t know your family income, but the economy is difficult, and it’s crucial that you apply to safety colleges with good financial aid.</p>

<p>Academically-wise, yes, a safety. Financially-wise? Most likely not.</p>

<p>With 2200 SAT I, great SAT II scores, good GPA/course rigor, and strong ECs, BC is by all means a safety. I’ve seen many people in my area accepted into BC with SAT scores well below a 2100.</p>

<p>At these scores and EC’s BC is a pretty safe bet. Obviously, you should’ve applied to your state flagship, but that’s probably advice falling upon deaf ears right now. You have the qualifications for the rest of the schools (and very much so for Colgate, Wake, and Lehigh), and with the assumption that you’re Hispanic because of your Colombian citizenship, I would not call any of the Ivies too difficult for you to garner offers of admission from.</p>

<p>^OP probably gets into BC, but its still not a safety. Essays and recommendations also factor in, not as much though. What may destroy your chances at higher tier schools is lack of ap’s before senior year. (unless your school didn’t allow you to take any more than 1?) However if you are indeed hispanic, then I feel you have a chance of getting into at least one top tier school. The probability of you going 0 for 12 is probably around 2%. (just a subjective guess though) Take all of your colleges rejections rates and mulitply them together and thats the “chance that I go for 0 for 12”.</p>
