<p>Son, Wash U 2007, IPH Interdisciplinary Project of the Humanities. Working for a professor this summer and then hopefully getting a job in D.C. for a year while applying to history PhD.programs, law school or both. He won a national scholarship last year for grad school so can’t take too much time off. My guess is that he would really like to do nothing for a month or two but eat sleep and read political blogs and books for pleasure.</p>
<p>My fiance (younger man! MIT '07, aerospace engineering) is graduating on Friday. He’ll be taking a few weeks off to try and break a world record in solar plane flight with his best friend, then will start work at an awesome aerospace company in the area that thinks he’s the cat’s pajamas.</p>
<p>He’ll be heading back to grad school in two years – he’s deferring his admission to MIT’s aero/astro master’s program, and his company will fund his master’s and keep paying his salary while he’s back at school.</p>
<p>And SuNa, my thesis lab is at MGH! Your D and I will have to get together for coffee sometime. :)</p>
<p>wow, impressive kids! I feel like I’m in better hands already with this next generation. Isn’t anyone’s son drooping around the couch clueless? (Just projecting ahead for my S here…) :)</p>

<p>I interned last fall on Capitol Hill, and am now working for a Congresswoman in the Bay Area. Hopefully, I can move into policy work dealing with science/healthcare.</p>
<p>Son, BM summa cum laude viola performance Hartt '07 is in Arkansas on fellowship at the Hot Springs Festival, home for a week, then to PA as faculty in an adult chamber music program. He’ll be home after that, subbing for regional orchestras, studio teaching and doing a few national auditions. A gap year before grad school and his MM.</p>
<p>D, Associates with high honors from Becker College in small animal care is an assistant manager at a doggy day care, surrounded by a hundred dogs, reeking of doggy smells, and happy as a clam.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, they’re both still living at home.</p>
<p>Son (Carnegie Mellon '05, BS and MS together, basically computer science and information systems) is coming up on second anniversary at NYC investment bank (think Gov Corzine). Lives with gf, also CMU grad, upper east side of Manhattan. I believe he’s truly happy with his life.</p>
<p>One cool part of his job: he’s currently back in NYC, for two weeks, from a month and a half in Tokyo. Returned basically to attend a coworker’s wedding. I had a wonderful visit with him last Friday. Then leaves next week for two months in Honk Kong. I’m planning to visit him in HK… Very excited (!!!) if I can pull it off (summer’s my busy time of year)…he also spent a month last fall in London.</p>
<p>Two years ago I offered to help finance a couple months in Europe the summer after college graduation, as I thought he ought to see some of the world. Instead he picked spring break in Hawaii and a five day to Las Vegas with the boys. Funny now just 2 years out of school he will, by the end of this summer, have spent 5 months outside of the US.</p>
<p>Daughter graduated from one of the PA state U’s also 2005. Never put much effort into school, even college (very social, and an athlete). Unsure what to do with the rest of her life (and a Communications degree), she worked for a year, with a friend, as an aide at a school for autistic children. It clicked! </p>
<p>She was fortunate to be accepted back at her alma mater into a two year special education master’s program (with certification) and was able to be an assistant coach in her sport. Was accepted into the program on a probationary status, needed a 3.0 to stay in. We held our collective breath(s). Proud to report she finished year one with close to a 4.0.</p>
<p>DD1 graduated Ramapo College '06 with BA in Visual Art with a concentration on painting and sculpture. She is employed as an assistant interior designer for a small firm. She’s working on an Associates Degree in Design to qualify to sit for the NCIDQ exam in Interior Design.</p>
<p>UCLA grad, '05 with a BA in political science and Japanese. Currently getting an MA at UCSD. Interning this summer for the LG Corporation in Busan, Korea.</p>
<p>Was going to intern for the State Department, but couldn’t get the clearance in time. Oh well. Private sector is more money anyway…</p>
