So what are we gonna do?

The other thread talks abt the future of engineers in the US. As it stands, we dont have a great shot at getting a job…so what now?

Why do you study engineering then?

Is it a waste?

I feel bad that engineering is moving away…do you agree?

I don’t think it’s a waste of time. Engineering curriculums will give you the quantitative skills you need to succeed in the business field. Even though, your GPA might not be as high as social science major, companies value an engineering degree a lot more than a social science degree. If I remember correctly, there are more Fortune 500 CEOs with an engineering degree than business degree, so you don’t need to worry too much about not being able to move up. About getting your first job, the market is turning around. High tech job market will come back in a few years. By the time we graduate from college, there should be plenty of jobs for engineering students in all disciplines.
