A diamond ring! We’ll celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary this May. I lost 32 pounds in 2015 and my plain wedding band was so large it was uncomfortable. So … we went to our local jeweler and picked out a spectacular new band in rose gold with a square of pave diamonds. I have a large hand – and this is a large ring. I went from a size 11 band to a 9.5 band. So pretty!
Not a Christmas gift, but belated birthday. This year was terrible for me. I had surgery on my birthday so we didn’t celebrate at all, then we were supposed to buy a house on the water and I chose instead to put money towards decorating, but then that deal after dragging out forever fell apart and died. Hubby has a birthday right before Christmas and after he said he had the best birthday ever he realized I had the worst. He gave me a really cute birthday cards and saphire and diamond tennis bracelet.

@marian - not from work. My family stopped giving each other presents, instead we do secret Santa so we only have one present to buy instead of 15.
My youngest gave us dinner at our favorite restaurant, with a drink included for each of us. That’s a big deal on his budget. Older son actually went purposefully shopping with his girlfriend, and got me a couple of things, including a cat ornament with our cat’s name on it and some perfume. They also got thoughtful presents for the rest of the family. Seeing the kids start to put more effort into making others happy is nice to see. It was especially fun to see my older son pick out a present for his girlfriend.

How did your gift choice for DS’s girlfriend work out?
My D actually spent time to buy me several small thoughtful gifts. Has never happened before!! I thought it was sweet. Gave m y D custom made T shirts with her logo for her small fledgling college film production company. Got lots of them and she is so happy giving them out to friends.
Yesterday my H received a Xmas card with handwritten personal message from Kobe Bryant (Lakers) and we are all still trying to figure out how that came about.
@GMTplus7, it worked out well. I got her PJ bottoms, a couple of tanks and tees to go with them, several pairs of socks, and an Alex and Ani bracelet, along with a stocking, filled with inexpensive but useful things (lip balm, hot cocoa, nail polish, etc.)
We had a full house for Christmas, with the kids and their partners all here. We all agreed on a “no presents” holiday, not even stocking stuffers. I was tempted to cheat, and I’m sure others were too, but we all stuck to the bargain. Best Christmas ever!
