So what if a girl just does that to you?

Just wondering, if a girl who is nice to you etc, becomes ur gf…one day goes to the police/etc and says that you did ‘inappropriate/wrong’ things to her…how do you prove yourself innocent? assuming u did NOT do any thing wrong to her.

Odd question. But in the US you don’t “prove yourself innocent,” you have to be proven guilty. So she would probably need various things to corroborate her claim. If you were already her boyfriend and had consensual sex before, it probably wouldn’t be enough to prove that you had sex with her (traces of semen, etc.). There would probably need to be signs of physical force involved.

This is percisely why it’s innocent until proven guilty. It’s not always possible to prove yourself innocent. However, if you didn’t do it, it’s impossible to prove that you’re guilty. The justice system errs when people think there’s enough evidence to prove someone guilty when there’s actually not enough (i.e. they draw a false conclusion).

Stake it out in court. She has no evidence (unless you already unwittingly provided that evidence) but that shouldn’t be a problem, now, should it?

Happens all the time. Those people who are in relationships where the age difference is like 18-15. One bad breakup later and it’s rape rape rape.

If you are really in this situation, you shouldn’t be talking about it here, with students.

You need to speak with your parents and an attorney.

"Happens all the time. Those people who are in relationships where the age difference is like 18-15. One bad breakup later and it’s rape rape rape. "

Where ISN’T that statutory rape regardless?

Depends on the state actually. 15-18 is usually illegal but 16-18 or 15-17 usually (CHECK YOUR STATE LAWS, in some 17-18 is illegal) isn’t. 15-18 is a little creepy but honestly sometimes that’s a sophomore and senior in high school, and I saw that happen all the time.

excel: You have a very rosy image of our judicial system.

Ask a lawyer?

I never mentioned how often the justice system errs. :)

Go on CC and ask for advice immediately.

this is why you don’t date underage girls. Everything can go well but once you break up, you have to worry about rape charges if the girl is mad at you.

wait no…no underage problem. and this is purely hypothetical.

It my be guilty until proven innocent, but the bias in the legal system is toward the female in most cases.

Yup. Totally.

Hate to say it but when it comes to relationships and violence/rape/inappropriate stuff, its often implied that as a guy you are guilty until proven innocent (even if that isn’t the official rule). There is a lot of bias towards the girl, and when in doubt, the girl will usually benefit.

[Reporting Rates | RAINN | Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network](The Criminal Justice System: Statistics | RAINN)

Yes, the statistics demonstrate that the legal system and society clearly favor the complainant more than the accused.

Sounds like bunk. As seen before with the claim that one in four females on campus will be raped, numbers can and often are fudged to further misandry.

That said, what of ‘crying rape’ after a one-night stand, or other such smear tactics?

Those statistics are horribly twisted. All those statistics said was that more than 60% of rapes go unreported, which means that there wasn’t even a complaint made by the person who was raped. It said only about 6% are in jail, but in reality out of the 94% that aren’t in jail, most include rapes that the victim chose not to report, arrested rapists that were not prosecuted by the victim, etc. These make up a large portion

Yea, exactly what Vanagandr asked a couple of posts above.
