Just curious. I’ll have to make my list eventually. Might as well be derivative.

pton, mit, penn, harvard, stanford, columbia, and carnegie mellon.

vanderbilt, georgetown, boston u, tufts, duke, and uflorida

dartmouth, princeton, yale
hopkins and a safety or two if i dont get into uchi ea

When I applied last year, I applied to Caltech, MIT, and Purdue. Ironic… 3 engineering schools and then Chicago.

Last year besides Chicago I only applied to MIT and the University of Rochester, Chicago was my first choice and those were the only applications I had sent in before I got my decision back.

columbia, brown, cornell, harvard, nyu, boston university, carnegie mellon, vassar, swarthmore, suny bing and cuny baruch.

Didn’t bother with RD when I got into Chicago EA. I did NOT have a good college list for me, and I didn’t like any of the other schools anywhere near as much as I did Chicago.

If I were to draft a college list right now, I think I would do Chicago, Berkeley, Reed, Swarthmore, Rice, and SUNY-Binghamton, considering factors like strength of English department/creative writing opportunities, proximity to good coffee shops and bookstores, overall quality and rigor of education, offbeat/nerdy/intellectual student body, and proximity to a city. Bing is the major outlier, but it had enough redeeming qualities concerning what I really cared about (good academics, comfortable student atmosphere).

UMich, MIT, UChicago, Harvard, and Princeton.

Swarthmore, Reed, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Kenyon, Oberlin, Colgate, Wesleyan, and UMD.

chi, carnegie mellon, boston u, maryland-college park (instate), drexel, american, maybe tufts, maybe swarthmore

What about safeties? I see a SUNY or two.

I didn’t go to Chicago, but I applied there. My other schools were: Tufts, Brown, Wesleyan, Dartmouth, Barnard, Wellesley, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Cornell. And safeties: BU, NYU, Hamilton.

im just gonna chill for a year if i don’t get in and then try again

Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Vassar, SUNY Bing.

I was thinking about Pitt as a safety, but in the end I cut it since I know that I like Bing better anyway; Oberlin and Wellesley were cut because Oberlin is too far away and in the middle of nowhere to boot, and Wellesley felt a little too “elitist” for my tastes.

It seems like we have a lot of New York people (myself included). Binghamton is pretty useful as a safety.

Oxford University; Imperial College, London; Washington University in St Louis and some safeties.

Well, yeah, I’m also wondering what safeties you applied to.

Only Chicago, UCLA, and Berkeley. If I get deferred EA from Chicago, I’ll apply to Brown, Reed, and the University of Washington.

snoopyiscool – I applied to UTAustin and Macalester as safeties.
