I have gotten into cooking a lot lately. I like to use fresh herbs, which in the summer is no problem, but in the winter I miss my home grown herbs.

I have one of those aerogardens so that I can have fresh herbs growing in my kitchen all winter. The replacement seed kits make a great gift along with some fresh light bulbs.

My son and SO got me a Nespresso machine from Williams Sonoma. Not something on my list, but they were so happy to set it up and make us coffee. Whenever I use it, I will think of them.

Biggest joy will be if SO gets a job or postdoc closer to son, that son works well with new P.I. and finds a thesis project he enjoys, and my nearest and dearest have good health. I will add to my list electricity for Nrdsb4, and a mild winter for all.

NRds…last year, we bought a generator. A small one enough to power our heat, fridge, and a couple of lights. It’s our guarantee we won’t lose power for more than a couple of hours! :)

You all have such good ideas for yourselves!

And a day above 30 degrees (below zero here now) would also be great, as I found this morning that the clip that holds my birdfeeder up is frozen so I couldn’t take it down to fill it.

I like fallgirl’s reality and fantasy lists.

My reality list: a coffee maker for our bedroom
Weekend in San Francisco
and simple pleasures such as warm slippers, a case of good wine and an
Amazon gift card
New athletic shoes

My fantasy list: daily help to keep the house spotless and cook my gluten
free meals
Trip to Italy with my friends and our families
to pick up my house and plop it down on a bluff overlooking the
ocean

" It’s our guarantee we won’t lose power for more than a couple of hours!"

No kidding, thumper! We bought a generator almost exactly 6 years ago after spending a week without power… and have yet to use it. Mr B does some maintenance on it, but other than that, it has been gathering dust in the garage.

My dream gift is a small Chanel Reissue purse. I know, that sounds pretty “jersey shore”, as baby kiddo would say, but since we are talking about dream gifts, I have to be honest.
Mr B dreams of a new SUV - the one with the funky, futuristic door design. Since it is not in production yet, not even Santa can grant him his wish. In reality, we already treated ourselves to a new set of dishes and a new family room couch from Stressless.

A GPS and someone to teach me how to use it. I don’t have or want a smartphone, but I greatly envy the GPS apps that my kids have on their smartphones.

I could easily spread hints that would get me the device, but getting the coaching is much more difficult. It would have to come from one of my kids (my husband HATES to teach). But I won’t be seeing one kid this Christmas, and the other will be here only briefly. :(

^^^
Bunsen, funny you should mention the Stressless couch; I’d love one but I’m afraid our 3 cats and one big dog would destroy it.
My dream would be a trip to Italy but it will have to wait till D graduates and money frees up;)

Syrstress, I have the Oneida Louisiana pattern and really enjoy using it! It blends nicely with my grandmother’s sterling pattern, which I inherited. If you watch coupons and sales, you can pick it up at affordable prices. My mom started me out with service for 8 and I picked up another 8, using a Groupon-type deal, a couple of years ago.

I would kind of like a flat screen tv. I never thought I would say this, but I can’t read subtitles from across the room anymore. I always like getting sweaters. After the long thread about leggings I’m thinking about asking for some and at least one long shirt to go with them.

Recommended gift - I bought a pair for myself and LOVE them are fleece tights. You can wear like black hose with boots and a skirt, or under pants -but they are so WARM. Just love them in the office with boots and a skirt.

I want some black boot slippers - I keep wearing my uggs with my PJ"s around the house … so I want some slippers …but boot style.

I asked my husband for poodle pajamas from Soma (Chico’s). Really. They were in the catalog. (We’re also doing a big deal mid-week celebration luxury hotel thing for our 30th anniversary in January.)
