so what should i take as i'm undeclared?

sophomore about to be junior
IB or mCB intended. GAAH.

bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmp

It really depends on what classes you have already taken. Take the general science classes if you have not already done so (Physics 8A/B, Bio 1A/B, Chem 1A, Chem 3A/B, Math 1A/B). After junior year, the classes you need to take diverge so decide on what path (in MCB/IB) you are most interested in.

That’s the problem, I’m about to finish my gen sci courses after this summer. I still can’t decide between IB/MCB. I really like neuro, but I’m kind of afraid that I’m gonna get killed in MCB seeing as how my work ethic is becoming crappier and pretty much declining since freshman year. Meanwhile, IB just created a health track which seems pretty good, but I’m unsure about the major in general for some reason. It just seems so broad…

And I guess I could look into like Nutri Sci or Public Health (which is much too impacted)/Psych (impacted as well), but I would have to take more LD courses…

IB is only as broad as you let it be. Neuro doesn’t have IB electives, so the only thing you can take for either major is MCB 102.

Getting into IB courses undeclared will be very hard, though there are some that won’t be so hard to get. Almost all MCB courses require biochem, so you are stuck on that side.

I’d say take MCB 102 and any breadth you haven’t done.

dude i would just decide right now. that way you can plan out your schedule a lot better and avoid screwing it up.

^making a decision right now would only help Batman if they chose IB. For Neurobio, I think the only thing they can do is 102.

if i declare IB now or in a few weeks, would i be able to get in to their courses for phase 2?

some courses like Group A and B courses won’t fill up for a while, and you should still be able to get into, but the Group C courses that the premeds love will fill up fast.

For IB Track 2 you still need one Group A and one Group B. I recommend IB 160 for the Group A. It is a very interesting class, and it can bail you out of a genetics requirement.
