My sib (sophomore) is now in the process, and has just gotten SAT scores. New SAT (1600)–which is different from old SAT (2400). Sib. made a 1520 on first try. Sib was happy and does not want to retake, but it seems like that 1520 on new exam concords to like a 2250 on the old exam I took.This is good but not stellar for an unhooked kid. Not a “one and done” score. For non-hooked kid, do you take it again? What is the new “one and done” level for SAT if you are seeking T10-20 tier schools (Duke, Rice, Vandy, etc.). I think sib needs to take one more time.
Depends on your goals, but in general, 750+ in each section (not the same as 1500+! 750/750 is better than 800/700!).
No, 1520 is good anywhere - it passes the benchmark, now other factors will be at play.
@marvin100 760/760
@myos1634 Good. Sib wants to move on, thinks just as likely could go down as up. Anecdotally, it seems like everyone seems to be shooting for 1550+ as the stop #.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Both @marvin100 and @MYOS1634 are correct, so there is nothing left to say. Additionally, “Asking for a friend” posts are not allowed. If your sib has questions about the process, s/he needs to ask his/her own questions. Closing thread.
