So when can HS Class of 2011 Applicants Start Sending In Application Materials?

Is there an order for submitting materials…or is there some trigger to wait for before starting to send in recommendations, test scores, supplemental materials and such?

Along these lines…and probably covered by the first question:

Should test scores get sent in AFTER the Common Application or other application is submitted (so that there’s a file for the college to match your scores with)? Or would sending scores first be okay?

And what about the timing of recommendations? If the teacher has the recommendation written, should s/he be asked to wait until the application is submitted (and filing fee is paid) before mailing them? Or is it okay if that’s the first thing that shows up for an applicant?

Schools will start a file for you once they get information. Many students send SAT/ACT scores to schools starting in their Jr year. If you know you will not be taking any more tests you can go on and request your scores be sent. If the teacher has a LOR ready to go, I think it is fine to send it to the school(s). It is one less thing the teacher has to deal with. The schools simply will not evaluate your file until your application is complete and fee is paid.
