so who on here doesnt go to an IVY or a highly prestigious college

Im just wondering since they dont get mentioned on here, seems like only people worry about the highly ranked colleges and such, but im sure theres people on here who want to go or attend a lesser ranked school or so, and theres nothing wrong with that. I myself, attend a small college in North Canton, Ohio called Stark State College, its a small school and a commuter school. I’m going for medical massage therapy, which isnt offered at big time schools, but i dont care, im happy with it and i like the place. So anyone else on here go to smaller type schools?

I’m not in college yet (will be next year) but I’m considering spending a couple semesters at the community college, or maybe Eastern Michigan University, which is pretty easy to get into… if I get accepted to U of M ann arbor, I’m not sure if I’ll go or not…

I go to a small (47 acre campus, 2400 students, NAIA sports) Master’s school in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah, called Westminster College. It’s about 5 miles south of the University of Utah, and is located in the best part of the city, which says a lot since Salt Lake is (IMO) gorgeous with skiing/river running/climbing/canyon drives/Sundance Film Festival/etc. a hop, skip, and a jump away. I have looked at other schools online, and stuff, but have never been impressed enough by what I’ve seen to consider going elsewhere. I absolutely love Westminster. It has the most amazing professors, the most amazing campus community, and the most down to earth student body out there (IMO, ofcourse). Additionally, for the major I am studying (accounting), I wouldn’t go anywhere else, because Westminster has the only CFA (center for financial analysis) in Utah, and its Gore School of Business (named after Bill Gore–alumnus, and founder of Gore Industries (known for Gore-Tex) is starting to really get recognized, and has outstanding facilities/professors. One thing, however, Westminster is not “prestigious” in the way the word is perceived on CC. You see, it’s not ranked highly by USNWR (#20 for Master’s schools in the Western region), and I don’t give a ****. Although I could probably attend more “prestigious” institutions, I am too happy there to fool myself into thinking that the USNWR ranking is going to make a difference in the intangible elements of my college experience. BTW, I’m a commuter too, and the school has a city campus feel to it… sort of commuter, but also many campus residents living in brand new apartment style dorms!

Oh, and I almost forgot… I am willing to bet that a lot of people on this site don’t go to/will not get into/stuff will happen to disallow them to go to Ivy League or other prestigious schools…they just won’t admit it! ;)

I have the nads.

311Griff, I’m starting Westminster in the fall. Maybe I’ll pass you there. (Although I’m a chemistry major.)

In the fall, I will be a freshman at a medium-sized (about 10,000 undergrads) college in PA. Not many people outside of the Middle-Atlantic region have heard of it. The town it’s in is like a little city, but is surrounded by farmland. I don’t care though- it’s a good school and I know I’ll like it there.

I’m at a medium-sized school in Tx. While it’s nothing glamerous or flashy – most students are commuters or couldn’t get in other places, they have good programs in the two majors I’ve been in (Communication and, currently, Education) and it’s pretty cheap because I can live at home.

GEORGIA TECH!

Though, it’s fairly prestigious in the engineering/science/technology community.

I am off to Pittsburgh for now…Planning to go to UVa though. I would go to UVa over any Ivy League :/

UGA isn’t that prestigious…I don’t really care either lol

beantown4…I used to live in North Canton…I’m going to be a senior next year, so I haven’t really made my decision about colleges, yet.

Central Maine Community College Represent

Georgia Tech here too.

Not highly prestigious…good in my field though.

Georgia Tech is extremely prestigious… what are you guys smoking?

Anyway… I’m going to Brandeis which is prestigious but no one has ever heard of it. :p

UMD College Park: oh yeah. I went to orientation this past week and had a blast–can’t wait for the fall.

Fie on you, Stanford U and your financial aid department, fie on you.

Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Less “prestigous” of schools Like Washington University here in MO. but a good school none-the-less.

UC Irvine. Not prestigious at all. ;)

I’m going to Loyola (Chicago), which is ranked 117th something on USNWR, but I don’t care either. I’ve already attended orientation and had a great time. Plus, I love Chicago.

Woohoo College Park. I love the campus. I stayed there for a week in early June. Stamp Student Union is great.

College Park’s campus is awesome…AND its right there by DC
