I do. Someday. What do you think?
Definitely will go. Hopefully, in the next few years.
It would be a blast from the past!
Me!!!
My DH loves all the vintage cars that are there.
Me too! H and S went over break.
Happydad was born there, as were both of his parents (all four grandparents had met their spouses there after immigrating from Spain). We hope to take Happygrandma there in another year or so.
Heard it has some of the mostpristinecoral reefs left in the world. As a scuba diver, I can’t wait!
Ps - D1s best friend from HS was there last year for a semester. She loved it.
My DS and DD college established ties with the University of Havana this past year. They have some economic, environmental and marine science projects together. There were winter term trips and there will be a summer term project and others in the planning stages. I keep asking to go as a “chaperone”. Can’t wait for travel to open up to tourists. Local TV station did a series on the economy, health, history etc. on Cuba this winter. It was also very interesting to hear the US students impression of the country.
Would love to take the whole family. One place none of us have ever been
S and I have talked about this. Were in!
I’d go in a heartbeat. My mom, sister, and I are all planning on it!
Son went 2014 for J term and loved it. He went SCUBA diving and say it was only $25 a pop. He loved how a group of older locals sitting on benches got him and his classmates to dance and before they knew it, everyone was dancing in the square. Music was everywhere and the artists colors were so vibrant. He will go again, but plans to wait until the roads outside of Havana are in better shape.
Count us in. My British and European friends have all gone and loved every minute of it.
I’d like to go. CC tour being organized?
There are plenty of really poor countries to visit… what is the attraction to Cuba?
There are also cheap places to visit with beaches… bazillions of them in the same area even.
If you want to be “outside the tourist areas”… you can do that on the other islands too, but it probably isn’t as great as you think it might be.
Probably the attraction of a place that has been forbidden (to US citizens) for a long time but is not considered dangerous.
Seeing a place on the cusp of development, before money pours in, is fascinating. Much of the world has similar chain hotels, restaurants, and cultures are homogenizing. Cuba has been isolated, and is unique in a number of ways, and has some amazing sights and experiences because of that isolation.
Would love to go!
Visiting Cuba isn’t about beach-- there’s beach anywhere. Visiting Cuba is about being a time traveler.
Actually Cuba has been visited by US Citizens many years prior to Obama’s deal. My Friend Don from Key West sailed to Cuba all the time. I don’t know how he did it, but it was done.
