So You Think You Can Dance- 2011 Season! - Merged Threads

I liked Sasha tonight, but all I could think of during Melanie’s leap was “omg…I hope that guy is strong!!!”

Sasha, Melanie, Jess. Those were my votes.

Thought there was a really awkward moment in Ricky and Anya’s dance…like they really messed a lift up…

Love Melanie, Sasha is my second favorite. Jess is an amazing dancer, but despite what the judges said tonight, I still find his facial expressions odd and insincere. And I LOVE Broadway dancers, but only when they are really “in the moment” like NPH critiqued Jess and and I just never believe him.
Loved seeing Ellen and Portia in the audience tonight. Such a cute couple.
I’d send Ricky home, he just doesn’t do it for me and I don’t think he’s technically near as good as some of the other guys. Probably Caitlynn for the girls. I like her, but not as much as the other three.

Prediction of voted out:
Caitlynn
Jess

imo
it’ll be the beasty gals vs the beat-y boys!!

Liked the choreo and the judging much better tonight. And they picked some great songs. GaGa was very interesting. Loved the all-stars, too.

I think Caitlyn and Ricky are going home…

I was NOT a big fan of Sasha, when there were 14 dancers instead of the current 8. In fact, she was my LEAST favorite female dancer. But that was then and now is now! What a statement she has made in the last few weeks. Melanie has always been the front-running female, so it’s nice to see the competition tightening up.

I still think Marko is the front-runner for the guys. Besides his obvious talent that was quite a poignant moment with that exchange with his mother, who travelled all the way from Guam and was in the audience tonight.

Lady Gaga started off rather slowly, but got better, with the exception of the multiple interruptions/talking over Nigel Lythgoe. In business, it’s never good to talk over “the boss” when they are speaking.

Yes, Gaga had some pretty interesting and cogent things to say, I thought. She surely was able to make it clear to one and all that she is not a Nappy-Tabs fan!

My prediction is Ricky and Caitlyn going home, though I won’t be able to watch until probably Friday (have to travel out of town for a memorial service). So we’ll see if I can stand the suspense and stay off here until I watch it…er, probably not!

:)

Just saw on twitter that Nappy-Tabs wrote: “So I guess we won’t be choreographing any time soon for Lady Gaga! LOL”

I LOVE Nappy-Tabs!

I loved the show last night … many good performances and I was choked up a few times because I was so happy for the dancers when they did well. I was surprisingly impressed with Lady Gaga … she is professional and authentic and seemed to enjoy herself immensely. Rob Marshall was also a great guest judge. I predict Caitlyn and Ricky as the two to go. Melanie and Sasha won for me last night, and I have a new respect for the other dark-haired girl with the great legs that usually dances too sexy. I didn’t get the emotion in the dance Marko did when he introduced his mom, but it was clear by the live reaction that I missed something. I really like the b-boy guy … his movement is spectacular, even though he doesn’t have the training and technique of Marko. Jess is special … I hope when I go see a Broadway show in the future that I see him and the girl w/ the spectacular legs. Maybe they’ll get a chance to sing for us before they get voted off?

“I didn’t get the emotion in the dance Marko did when he introduced his mom, but it was clear by the live reaction that I missed something.”

Snowflake, If you’re able to, go back and listen to what Nigel said about Marko’s comments to his mom, when it was his turn to critique. I sure could relate to this situation, as I’m sure many of us can, with one or both parents.

Who got voted off? My DVR didn’t record for some reason. Grr.

Jess and Jordan. The other bottom two were Thadd and Caitlynn.

Darn, I really liked Jordan.

jshain, I think I missed the intro before the dance, so I should go back and view it. So I was way off in terms of who got voted off, but I think Jess and Jordan will have fine dance careers or Broadway … loved them both, will definitely look for them to pop up in the future. Jess can do turns like nobody’s business … terrific solo.

I am a little surprised that Jess went home before Ricky and really surprised that Tadd ended up in the bottom 4 instead of Ricky. That Rumba really did Jess and Jordan in, didn’t it? Kudos to performersmom who said Jess would be going home. Caitlyn is still alive for another week, unless others stumble. Caitlyn’s solo tonight was the weakest one of all, imo.

There was also a minor glitch when Cat said to Jess that he was in danger and they weren’t on camera, so just the sound was heard. Was that Cat’s boo-boo or the someone from the video department?

I was sorry to see Jess go; I always enjoyed him. But I was glad to see the viewers finally giving Ricky his due. I think he’s been unfairly dissed by the judges all season. Frankly, I’m surprised that Tadd is still there. His b-boy tricks are great, but is he really among the top 3 male dancers of the season?

It was sad seeing Caitlynn and Jordan standing together, knowing one of them had to go. They’re both fantastic.

Am I remembering correctly that Sasha was the first one safe? Does this mean that she out-polled Melanie?

^I was wondering the same thing LasMa, if Sasha got the most votes since she did get announced safe first. Marko got announced safe first for the guys. Does that mean they are the front-runners at least for this week and, if so, I wonder who would win between these two? I thought that was weird that Nigel gave Sasha his front-runner status before even seeing Melanie perform her first dance on Wednesday and then, after seeing Melanie perform, changed his mind. Was he basing his opinion of Sasha being a slight favorite of his on their final rehearsals prior to the show?

^^ Or it might be because of her number with Twitch last week, and her gorgeous ballroom this week. Sasha seems to be getting better and better with each passing week. And she has to be the most versatile girl left. Both she and Caitlyn have gone way outside their comfort zones, but so far Melanie has not been asked to stray very far from her contemporary roots. We have no idea yet what kind of a hiphopper she is, and I thought her ballroom was a bit pedestrian compared to Sasha this week and Caitlyn’s beautiful piece last week.

You’re right, LasMa … Melanie shouldn’t win without showing us how she can do hip hop. It wouldn’t make sense if the winner wasn’t strong and versatile.

Ricky graduated from my HS last year ('10)! Just a little fun fact that I think is AWESOME!

Umm, are you all forgetting the wonderful hiphop piece that Melanie and Marko did…the one about the guy who was left at the altar and he was being consoled by his best friend…the one with the kiss?

It was GREAT!

I love Sasha AND Melanie, but I think it’s just Melanie makes everything look effortless. And I kind of love that she is not stick-thin and nobody cares…
