@melox93 well…theyre my first choice…but reality has hit me over the over the past few weeks…if i get into pitt, i’ll probably have to end up paying full price, so other schools have reached up to pitt’s level.

its sorta like this for me

1.Pitt
1a.WVU wonders if it wise to write on a pittsburgh forum
2.Rutgers
3.Temple
4.Howard

@908kiddo hahaha at the WVU statement
well, Temple and Howard are also very good schools. Have you visited any other campuses? It also depends on how far away or close you want to be to home. I’m an in-state student, so Pitt is right around the corner haha

lol, about the west virginia thing, i actually visted their campus the day before i went to pitt, and everyone there was talking down about pittsburgh, and the next day when i went to pitt, everyone was talking down about wvu lol

but i visited all of the campuses listed…overall, i think pittsburgh had the best campus atmosphere and it was hands down the most friendliest.

and its different for me, i live in jersey, and rutgers is right around the corner…and thats the only in state school i would consider going to…if not rutgers, then i need to be far away lol…preferably 3+ hours away.

@908kiddo ohh well since Pitt and Temple are in PA, it wouldn’t really be THAT far of a trip lol. I think the ones you listed are all in a consistent distance
However, if you go to Pitt, one thing to get used to is the weather here :s one day it’s 95 degrees the next it’s hailing haha. But, overall I LOVE the atmosphere of Oakland and unlike the majority of my school I want to stay here for college haha

Sent from my M860 using CC App

im from jersey, im used to that weather lol…i never get phased that much when talking about weather when pertaining to college…

but aside from it all, hopefully i get accepted, and some type of aid, grant, or scholarship to go to the school, if not, i may have to end up at the rivaled WVU :o

@908kiddo oh so you’ll be ready to have a sweater for one day and flip flops the next haha.
Well hopefully I go there because it’s my DREAM School. :3 What were the other kids that visited there like when you went? Were there a lot?

there was about 150-200 kids there…and everyone there was nice and friendly…i didnt come across any kids who were rude…idk if that was because they wanted to make a nice first impression or if they were naturally like that.

i got a good vibe from everyone…and the thing i like was that the topic of most conversations were school related.

most of the people were from new york, ohio, new jersey, and of course pennsylvania. the furthest i encounted was arizona though

@908kiddo WOW that’s a lot of kids!!! Wowwwwww I didn’t think it would be THAT many! Lol were they staying overnight too? Or was it for the info sessions? But it’s nice to know they came off with a positive attitude! XD hopefully they’re like that when I go!

Sent from my M860 using CC App

@melox93 for the information session, there may have have 600+ people in total lol…and yeah, everyone was staying overnight…but you wont even notice all the people, you’ll be too busy having fun lol…and yeah, i didnt really meet anyone that gave me a negative vibe, at ALL…are you going to the business session too?

@908kiddo i’ll be going to the overnight on a Friday then going to “Ready Set Pitt” the next day
I want to major in Studio Arts. But there’s no “So you wanna be a …” Day for Fine Arts haha. I’m gonna take like a billion pictures when I go xD So for the overnight, do you room with a Pathfinder or another kid? ( I know i’m asking 1000 questions but this is fun to talk about lol)

Sent from my M860 using CC App

@melox93 nah its cool, ask away, i enjoy answering your questions lol…and sorry for some one my late responses

but we roomed with another kid, there was wayyy to many kids for all of the pathfinders lol

if everything is the same as when i went, then you’ll sign up in the towers, and pathfinder will show you your room, you’ll drop off your luggage, and then off to the cathedral to meet new people lol

the whole experience really gave me a warm feeling…only thing i regret though is not getting peoples numbers and contact information, you should really get that…no matter where they live

@908kiddo yay! Haha xD

Oh yeah I already know, I want to stay in contact with the people I meet.
I can’t wait to meet out of state kids! It would be cool if we all stayed in contact on here, got accepted and met up in person haha xD “oh yeah you were that one kid on college confidential!” haha

Sent from my M860 using CC App

@melox93 yeah lol, keep in contact with the ones from jersey especially

and yeah, that’ll be cool lol…

hopefully i’ll get in…first thing im gunna do is apply to be a pathfinder…theyre soooo nice lol

@908kiddo Same here! They look so happy in their picture on the website haha.
bjdiwgdkahs the getting into college process is so nervewracking lol

I visited Pitt a couple days ago and took a tour and fell in love with it. The only thing I was disappointed about was the music building. Im interested in majoring in something music related like music industry but I know it’s not offered there. What music-related majors do they have at Pitt?
Also I remember during the presentation they talked about making your own major. Is it possible I could do music business or something? Thanks!

@gryffind0r Hi!!
Just curious, are you an in-state student? And I also want to have some type of music in College too like playing in the band.

I’m no help but I’m not too sure about studying the Music Industry there… Have you gone on their website and checked out what they offer? You can also find some students and Pitt advisors on this site who already know how things work there lol :)

Join the Symphonic Band if you come! It’s SO fun!

The music major at Pitt has two concentration: jazz, and western art music. Duquesne has five music majors: performance, education, technology, therapy, and sacred music.

@griffind0r you heard right! we can definitely look at a Music / Business major here! check out these sites for more information: [Undergraduate | College of Business Administration | Pitt Business](http://www.business.pitt.edu/cba/academics/)

This is a pamphlet with more details:http://www.cba.pitt.edu/academics/businessdualmajor.pdf.

And here are the details on the Interdisciplinary major, where you design your own course: http://www.pitt.edu/~medren/documents/INTERDIS-ST.pdf. You must remember to meet with an advisor before declaring that major!

Hail to PITT!

The music department is actually spread into two facilities. There is the home [Music Building](Music Building (University of Pittsburgh) - Wikipedia), which is actually a historic former 19th century mansion that also previously served as the first home to the first community-sponsored television station in the US and was also held the first studio for Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. The second major music facility is [Bellefield Hall](Bellefield Hall - Wikipedia), also a historic building, and contains one of the best acoustic concert halls in the city and is where the departments concerts and recitals typically are, although I’m not sure, maybe some are also held in Heinz Chapel or the [Carnegie Music Hall](http://www.carnegiemuseums.org/assets/oak_music_hall_lg.jpg) which is across the street. (I know they have the annual Jazz Seminar in the Carnegie Music Hall, which is just georgious). Bellefied Hall also has departmental rehearsal spaces, classrooms, graduate student offices, and the a digital recording studio. I don’t know if they emphasized to you that Bellefield also served as a home to the department, so I thought I’d let you know just in case.
