Hey, I need some help finding safety schools that also have either d1 or d2 soccer programs. I am hoping to play college soccer but i need to find all the schools, so i can start talking to coaches.
Any ideas on a school that would be right for me?
I also live in washington and taking 3 ap classes
GPA: 3.60
SAT: 1950

Soccer schools are a dime a dozen and without knowing what you want to study, how much you want to pay, and your ability level (prospect as a recruit), no one can give you sound direction.

Since you say safety, I assume you already have your reaches planned and have spoken to the coaches. What schools are you currently considering?

I am currently considering University of Washington, UCLA, UC-Davis, UC-Santa Barbara, Oregon State, Western Washington, Indiana University, University Of Wisconson, Ohio State, and University of Illinois. I plan to major in either engineering or buisness. I also am looking for the cheapest I can get hopefully below 25,000.

Are you looking for soccer football scholarships?

""Most sports programs at Division I and II are treated as equivalency sports. Soccer is almost always in this category, since revenue generation is rare. Only the absolute best collegiate soccer players receive full athletic scholarships. Therefore, most soccer student-athletes receive partial scholarships “”

Did your parents say that they will pay $25k per year and you will have to get rest of the money in athletic scholarship?

You live in WA. Your cost at CA schools will be >$25K. You need to look in state.

Does anyone know what the typical split scholarship is for soccer?

@ThatFutbolKid You said that you hope for a cost below $25k. What are your parents saying about how much THEY will pay?

@mom2collegekids my parents say that they will pay as much as they need, however keeping it low is helpful. If i get into the soccer program at one of the great schools in CA or another state, like UCLA, my parents are willing to spend more money. Also to do with cost, I was more hoping with a tuition under $25k not necessarily a full time cost of living. Another thing is that with a safety school, I was hoping not to pay as much.

What year in high school are you now?

I’m guessing you are male??? What level club are you currently playing?

UCLA, UCSB and UCD are academic reaches given your stats. In addition they would cost you around $50,000/yr as an OOS. It sounds like you are a junior or senior. Many of the schools on your list are very top notch D1 soccer programs and are probably already done recruiting for the next 2 seasons. If you are not already on their radars it is most likely too late. Even if you were able to secure a spot on the team, their athletic scholarship money is gone. Academically I would say Western Wash. and Oregon State are safeties, however Oregon State has a highly rated D1 men’s program that is probably done recruiting. Western Wash.'s D2 program is a possibility and you should definitely contact their coaches. The remaining schools on your list also have highly competitive soccer programs and while I’m not as familiar with them academically, their soccer is highly selective.

You are starting soccer recruitment rather late in the game. If you really want to play college soccer you would be better off looking at D3 or maybe NAIA schools. Their programs can be very competitive. You really need to come up with a list of schools that are academic safeties and then look at their soccer programs.
