Big congrats, lady lorna!

Lady Lorna, that is so exciting!!! Congrats to the young lady and her home support team!

LOL!

More speed skating right now.

Congratulations to your daughter, LL. Great accomplishment. Are you going to Sochi?

LL–I was wondering about your D. . .congrats and best of luck to her!

So like where’s the live stream right now.

I was sort of reluctant to watch the winter olympics because I hate Putin and all the homophobia in Russia, but there is too much talent out there that just can’t be missed.

I’m in the same boat as razor. This whole thing just kind of makes me sick.

I will probably be watching though.

Has anyone seen the pic tweets by reporters though? Sochi is clearly NOT ready for this. I do wonder whether or not the IOC regrets their decision.

Unlike Lady Lorna, I don’t have a daughter in the Olympics, but I do have 2 cousins (brother and sister). My cousin was sending messages about the trip, the rooms, etc., until 19 hours ago. LL, did you fly over to watch your daughter?
Alwaysamom, I am awed that you and family are there!

Shaun White backed out of the slopestyle event. After watching it I can see why. It’s amazing to watch but extremely dangerous. I love the slow motion shots with the mountains in the background. Beautiful imagery.

I watched one of the downhill skiers and it showed him travelling at about 81 mph. That is so fast it is crazy.

My DH said these were the most expensive olympics ever put on. Thats kinda sad. And the stands at the skating venue are surprisingly empty. I’ve attended early rounds of olympic events. I’ve even attended a dress rehearsal for an olympic event. The attendance was much higher than it seems to be there.

Razor, I agree with you. The injuries could be life changing. There has been no news on my cousins’ course. This will be a nail biter week.

I’m not being snarky in the least, but I’m really confused as to where all of that money went.

Apparently not into plumbing in the hotels!!

So I guess they couldnt have flushed it down the toilet :))

I literally LOL’ed at that.

I will actually make defense of the TP flushing thing. In many parts of the world, throwing away rather than flushing toilet paper is the norm (That was by far the hardest thing to get used to in Latin America.)

Sad to see Jeremy Abbott have such a meltdown today in the figure skating team event, even worse than he did four years ago in the short program in Vancouver. Aargh. To top it off, he actually said, "“For me I think it was a very positive step. You’re all going to think I’m crazy.” Right. Incredibly positive because he’s got another chance to do his short program in the singles event. Forgetting all about how much harder he’s made it for the US team to qualify for the finals of the team event, much less a medal. Aargh.

I usually can’t stand figure skating but I have to admit the skaters I watched this evening were majestic.

I thought this was too funny not to share: Sochi Opening Ceremony BINGO
