I love the winter games. Way more exciting than summer. They’re visually spectacular. People flying through the air and sliding down mountains at 80mph on 2sticks.

I enjoy all the alpine skiing faster than slalom. I also really enjoy, halfpipe, boarder cross, skeleton, bobsled, luge, ski jump, slopeside, speedskating, and, the strategy in curling.

Are you a hockey fan? Men’s ice hockey tournament begins on Wednesday, February 12. All of the 12 teams have at least one current NHL player on their roster.
Teams are split into 3 groups of 4, which play a round-robin against one another. Teams then are seeded in an elimination round, meaning a team must play either 6 or 7 games to win a medal. The format makes this so tricky to pick. It’s 3 preliminary games and then single elimination. One injury, one bounce, one bad call and you can be toast.

On paper, I think Canada, Russia and Sweden have the best rosters. Because of the format, Do you think depth will be a huge issue? Goaltending and special teams should be huge.

Several countries may be missing key players because of injuries. Still not clear who will start who will start in goal for Canada, USA or Russia.

Haven’t had anyone repeat in for gold since the Soviet Union/Unified Team in1988-1992

My gut tells me Canada. I think each of the big 4 teams has issues that are going to make it a great tournament. No team is perfect. Russia it’s defense and depth, Canada it’s goaltending and perhaps chemistry, USA it’s scoring and skating, Sweden it’s age and depth
