Are social interests in this context referring to a certain kind of extracurricular activities, such as passions in various social causes (i.e. environmentalism, education, domestic abuse, etc.) or are they referring to things like volunteering, reading, jogging, visiting museums, etc.?

I always view that question as being a combination of both. Granted, I’ve made my social causes into hobbies, so they can kind of fit into the second category. I think it’s fine to put down items from both of those groups.

It’s a trap. The question is designed to expose the level at which you care about your humanity while making you think you’re being impressive.

call the school in question and ask? nn;;

I think volunteering is a save bet for social interests, since it applies to both types of ‘social interests’
