Social Life at Duke?

So I’m strongly considering Duke and Vanderbilt for my ED application and I was wondering what the social life was at Duke. I visited Vanderbilt and stayed overnight at Nashville, so I got a pretty good feeling of what it was like there. However, when I visited Duke, I stayed with a family friend and did not get a good feeling of what the social life was like there. So I guess my main questions are:

What do people do on Friday nights?
How easy is it to get to Durham?
What is there to do in Durham?

I know a big part of social life is basketball, football, and other sports which I am TOTALLY in to. So if anyone could shed any light on this, that would be great. I have both applications filled out and I’m ready to make my decision soon!

Pick Duke for the academics. You’ll find your social niche easily enough.

Agreed @NeedyChica, socializing is never an issue of course unless it gets in the way for making it to class. -:slight_smile:

It’s as easy as finding squirrels on campus - there’s are free buses (e.g. Bull City Connector)

“What is there to do in Durham?”
There’s quite a bit to do - lots of great restaurants, Duke performing arts center, etc. There’s always tons of stuff on campus though, so most people just party and whatnot.
