Social life at Kenyon

Reports from students at Kenyon relay the message that the Kenyon administration has been taking some extreme measures against student gatherings. Campus security quickly closes parties in dorms and has put in place very restrictive policies that prohibit social gatherings on and off campus. Administrators have even been stalking student’s social media to find violations. What this has done is to force student social life to dorm rooms with only a few people. This also exacerbates the binge drinking and prevents students from interacting with the broader community. Kenyon is located in a very rural area with very limited off campus social life and activities for students. These policies will almost certainly curtail the already limited social life on campus.

My son is a freshman at Kenyon and has not had any issues with supposed increase of security, and breaking up of parties. He has a great social life at Kenyon - there are always parties going on at the NCA’s (on campus houses), additionally fraternities and sororities throw parties, and there are many smaller gatherings at apartment style student housing. He also enjoys incredibly small classes and amazing professors on one of the most beautiful campuses (Ranked 12th in the recent travel and leisure magazine).
