You can probably tell by my user name that I’m from So Cal. I was accepted to UCSB, UCD, and UCB. Unfortunately i got rejected from UCLA. Im inclined to choose berkeley but i visisted the campus over the weekend and it felt super depressing. Given, it was 2 days before finals week, so social life was scarce. Anyway, I’m very accustomed to SoCal life and had a hard time up north. No shade to NorCal or the schopl but, its sunnier down here and walkways are flatter. On a personal note, im prone to depression and loneliness Can any Berkeley current or grad students tell me why it’ll be a good idea to live up north? How is social life? What fun things can I do? Thanks!
It is called “dead week” for a reason.
I’m a parent, picking up/dropping off my D at UCB at least twice a week. In a normal week, there are many, in fact too many, people on campus…
There are a gazillion fun things to do. The problem is, there is not enough time.
That’t true (I used to live in Costa Mesa and went to CSULB/UCI). But you’ll get used to it in no time.
You’ll never run out of things to do in the Bay Area. Cal is what you make out of it, you have lots of opportunities and people who want to have fun there.
I’m sorry but you picked the worst time to visit. Actual finals would have been better, even.
