Social Life?

Would you say a good portion of the social life, most importantly the party scene, is dependent on athletics? Or greek life? Because although I enjoy sport, I don’t want it to be absolutely everything. And I don’t plan on rushing. So, will I be completely unable to find a good party?

I wouldn’t say it’s dependent on athletics, but a lot of the big parties are frat parties. However, you don’t need to be in the frat to attend.

My daughter went to two frat parties in the beginning of the term and thought they were awful. She now has great times and parties totally outside the frat scene. I don’t even think she knows where jock parties are.

Jocks don’t party, unless they’re in the fraternities. The athletes for varsity teams have too much else going on, generally, not to mention the risks, and the club teams dont count.

Yea, the real athletes don’t party all that much. A lot of parties (most?) are frat parties but there’s always some put on by clubs or just random people you happen to know who live off-campus. A lot of upperclassmen also go into Chicago bars once they’ve graduated from the frat party scene (unless of course they’re part of it). Frat parties are generally open to all students, unless they’re made to be smaller events just for fratmembers and their dates or something.
