Hi everyone! I’ve been offered admission to Taft after M10, which has always been one of my favourite schools. I’m excited about possibly attending this fall.
I would greatly appreciate insights from current students, alumni, or parents regarding life at Taft. Specifically, I’m curious about:
-
School Culture: What’s the overall atmosphere like?
-
Residential Life: How are the dorms? What’s the community vibe?
-
Weekend Plans: How often do students go off-campus for excursions?
-
International Student Activities: Are there opportunities for travel during long breaks?
-
Music: Since I’m a decent violinist, how is the music program and orchestra in taft?
Thank you in advance! Please add anything you think would be helpful to know about Taft.

These are great revisit day questions. Are you able to go?

Congrats! I will also likely be attending Taft this fall if you’d like to connect. Feel free to DM me
Well, I toured taft during december, and I’m planning on attending, so I don’t think I’ll go to revisit day.
I’d still recommend going. Revisit gives you a better sense of what you’re walking into than a tour, over and above giving you something to compare other schools to (if you have any).
If you don’t get good answers here, I’d call Admissions and they might be able to connect you a kid to speak with.

Echoing @IndySceptic – revisiting adds tremendous value, even if you’ve already decided to attend.

Agree 100%.
We live too far away and my son could not attend. He did realize that many kids would connect and start chatting over summer, getting to know each other. He didn’t yet have any social media (ahem, since corrected), so arrived blind.
Happy surprise: When he did arrive in August, two other freshman from his team immediately sought him out knowing nothing other than his name and hometown, and said they’d been waiting to meet him! The three of them wandered off and left us parents to unpack a room. So I don’t think it hurts if you miss it. But revisit is a great social opportunity to meet other incoming students if you have already decided.
