Socially life at colleges?!

during high school i hang out with a small group of friends and i’m scared that i’m not able to make any friends at college!! Is it really hard to make friends at college?? and non of my friends from HS is going to the college i’m going to. i heard that one of the main reason why people drop out of college is because of socially problems which lead to academic problems…
i’m sooo scareeedddd >_< i don want to drop out after i’ve worked sooo hard for so many yrs!!!
oops i mean social life

stop being so parinoid about it. Just talk with your classmates or join a club. Not that hard.

so nervous it like another stage of life!! don want to screw it!!

You will be fine if you relax and take a confident attitude about meeting new people… Just get involved and don’t burrow away in your dorm room all year.

“Socially Life”

And you are going to college?

^ Grammatically, it should’ve been “Social Life”, imo.

just let it be fellow CCers. who cares about the grammar??? seriously…

anyway…just take the fact that everyone has the same mindset as you into perspective. If you are scared going into college to make new friends, then a lot of others are (scared to make new friends) too.

you’ll be fine. just get yourself out there.

^^ Who cares about grammar? College students. and their professors. Seriously, it’s not that hard to use proper punctuation or at least decent spelling.

I hate that^ usage of ‘^^’. ‘^’ should mean the poster above, ‘^^’ two posters above and so on.

Also, you should never say ‘’ unless you have already said <something> - standards exist for a reason</something>

Just remember, it’s hip to be square

It’s hard for me because I’m a bit of introvert. But when people are welcoming and very friendly, then I comply. That’s how you make friends.

Find your niche. Join something that you enjoy like a sport or performance group or club. Something where you will be among a certain group of people and will be forced to make friends.

I do hear of people dropping out of college although I don’t believe most should resort to that. Commute, maybe, but if everyone dropped out of every situation because they are fearful of not fitting in, you will not get anything done. The only way I can see that is if someone had a social anxiety disorder that is at a serious level.

HAHAHA sorry about the bad grammar
i don think i can edit it anymore.
Hopefully it’s easy~~~~ cus many ppl say it’s even harder to make friends in college than in HS =______=||

Assuming you dorm your freshman year it’s not hard at all. Everyone’s in the same boat trying to make friends. I didn’t do jack **** at my first school and I made friends. At my new school, everybody already has some sort of social circle so it’s a lot harder. ****in hate it.

Do realize that people have different standards of “not doing jack”. If you sit in your room on your laptop all day, you will make no friends, and unless you get a particularly persistent roommate absolutely nobody will pressure you to get out.

meh, i would say HS is harder.

I think you’ll be fine. Going to college gives you the chance to meet new people, and everyone is in the same situation as you are. I think the students will be eager to make friends when they get there, so just be friendly and you’ll make lots of friends!
