I applied regular sociology major… I like general stuff.

IDS-I like the whole different range of classes it gives me because I’m kind of everywhere and don’t know what kind of job I’m going to get. I’m worried that since IDS is an interdisciplinary major I won’t get into upper div classes because some are restricted to their own major during Priority/First pass.

ok i am declared math/econ but plan on changing to IDS, or possibly sociology.

Here is my problem with IDS

It can be a reall bull***** major, all depending on the classes you take. I mean you can honestly get away with taking ethnomusicology for 4 out of the X amount of upper div classes needed.,… so often times even though you plan on taking something really usefull, it might be full and you just take whatever is on the list to mee the requirments

on the plus side few schools have this major, it does prepare you for graduate work in the field, but it doesnt really prepare you for a job because the UN and the State department want 5 years expereince and a MA or more for a degree usually, so i dont really know what type of “in the field” job you can get with just a BA
