Soda Hall description

right from the berkeley.edu website

“Funded by the Y & H Soda Foundation and named in honor of Y. Charles and Helen Soda as a tribute to their lifelong commitment to education and youth in the Bay Area. Although it is a classroom and office building, Soda Hall has many of the trappings of a residence hall (including showers, kitchenettes, and lounges with soft sofas) to accommodate the many Computer Science students who never seem to leave the building.”

lol

Well, Soda Hall looks like one giant bathroom. It has those colorful ceramic tiles all over it. It’s a rather ugly building. Then again, all these varied buildings is what makes the Cal (Berkeley) campus so cool. I mean, all these other private colleges look like they had an over-order of red bricks and thus resort to building everything with them. The Cal campus is so pretty and varied. I really hope I get in to Berkeley.

Soda hall has a great name (and description).

I was there today for an interview and I thought the whole building, inside and out, was very nice.

One of the things about Berkeley is that before you use to be able to look straight down from the center of campus and be able to see the bay. I don’t know if it was part of the charter or anything (can’t recall) but it was a principle when it was first built. That changed with soda hall. Hence, everyone hates it.

Can you not see it from the campinile?

Whoops, I was thinking Evans.
