Has anyone installed solar hot water? I see PG&E is promoting this with rebates of up to $4600. I think we missed the boat on rebates for regular solar panels. I wonder if this would make any sense.
We gave solar water heater with solar panels. We got both stats and federal rebates to cover 2/3 of the cost. For our uses and house, it seemed like a good idea. You can generally get a free estimate on cost and whether your house is properly oriented to get enough sun to make if worthwhile.
We also got state and fed rebates for photovoltaic installation and have that also.
Why do you say you missed the boat on the rebates on regular solar panels?
I thought there were some incentives that expired at the end of 2016. But looking at the link you provided, BB, maybe there is something else that is good now. Also, since I only see the solar hot water program from PG&E showing up in “my” ads all the time now, I thought that was the offer now.
We are thinking about getting a new roof soon, maybe some attic insulation as well. It might be a good time to put solar in as well.
