Solid Shot At WashU ED?

Hello, so I am a Junior and just looked at this school and will probably be applying early here come next year… I live in New York and go to one of the best public schools around, pretty much everyone here is extremely wealthy and our school typically sends 10 out of our 200 graduating students to ivy leagues every year. So, my stats:

Act: 33 (probably gonna take one more time… not studying for it anymore though)

GPA: Around 3.9, higher if it was weighted

Rank: Our school doesn’t rank but I would most likely fall in top 10% if our school factored in difficulty of classes

APs: Took World History last year, got a 5 on that. This year I am taking stat and bio, next year will be taking ab calc, euro, and comp sci. Other then AP’s I take accelerated versions of every class I can

Extracirrucs: Not much besides sports… 4 varsity letters for wrestling and will be captain next year which I suppose is pretty impressive. Also played guitar for around 5 years now.
Awards: Not much really besides All-League in wrestling

No job/work experience, most likely will do something for community this summer

Essay: Will def be good

Teacher recs: One from my coach will be amazing and other one will probably be good

I had an interview already and it went pretty well from what I could tell, and def will not be getting any financial aid

So LMK what you guys think, thanks !

To be honest, your extracurriculars are pretty weak. Having the wrestling over all four years and making captain this year is definitely good, but only having one thing on your resume is not the best situation. Any honor societies or anything like that? Stats-wise you’re fine, but have you taken the absolute most challenging schedule you can?

You definitely have a shot, but I would say that its probably an outside chance from what you said here. Good Luck!

review the decisions pages here and you will see some amazing applicants were wait listed or rejected. Your stats are not bad. I would plan a visit and speak directly to WUSTL admissions.

ED you stand a good chance.

you are definitely qualified
but to be honest, no one can honestly say if you have a decent shot or not,
top colleges admission are just completely unpredictable for qualified students (considering there are at least other 20,000 well-qualified students just like you),
unless you are OVERQUALIFIED student: like international or national level athlete, wrote a book that sold for millions, invented a robot that has emotions, help an african country gain democracy, and the list goes on… you get the picture?

its now completely up to destiny to decide if you will get in or not,
but if i may make some suggestion to IMPROVE your chances for the better, i would say

1) demonstrate interest
2) expand your extracurricular
3) more challenging courses (might not be possible for you now since it may be too late)
