Just got this e-mail so I thought I would share …

At last! A bumper sticker for both parties. FINALLY, someone has come out with a 100% bipartisan political bumper sticker. The hottest selling bumper sticker comes from New York.

Watched an interview with George Bush today on CNN- funny to hear his remarks about the “good 'ole old boys club” starring Bush Sr and Bill Clinton. Anyway, when asked about Hillary, Bush Jr just sighed and said, “Well, she’s a formidable candidate.” and just starred into the distance…wonder if they’ll let her into the club if she ever does get elected!

LOL! actually, I was a bit surprised that formidable was even in his vocabulary, let alone that we pronounced it correctly! Well, guess he got something out of Yale afterall!

no, his speechwriters and speech coaches got something out of Yale, Columbia, etc. If he’d paid attention in school maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess…

It was interesting when I drove up to the KP wrestlingmatches this weekend one of the big stories on WCBS radio was how the anti-war Operation Code Pink organizatrion is protesting Hillary everywhere she goes and has a rally outside her office once a week.

It made me think that if Operation Code Pink is mad at her, she can’t be doing everything wrong.

Well, as unpopular as this might be, I for one would like to see her go for it. She can’t be any worse, and she might even be a whole lot better. It’s time for a woman to take the reins anyway- the guys have been doing a bang-up job for some time now and someone has to straighten up the mess.

You know, Navy2010, I didn’t think I would ever say this re: HC, but I think you may be right.

That’s why I am voting for Kinky Friedman for Texas governor. He can’t screw it up anymore than it is now. Or, as he very succinctly put it: How hard could it be?

I will certainly consider any Republican candidate [J. McCain] but otherwise, as Kinky also says: Why the hell not?

Now there’s a new & refreshing idea Bill! Lets get Kinky into office! LOL He’s a hoot. I love common sense balanced with a sense of humor.

Our political system has become so cumbersome that all we achieve is mediocrity and helpless confusion. Kinky’s my man!! Atleast it would be entertaining!

It’s a little slow at the moment; everybody waiting for appointment letters, etc.

I noticed that Cindy Sheehan was arrested right before the State of the Union address for wearing a T-shirt that said:

2,245 dead. How many more?

She was not standing up, shouting from the rafters. She was not carrying a sign. She was not menacing anybody. Capitol police simply decided that was a form of illegal protest and arrested her. [Of course, they also arrested the wife of a Congressman that was wearing a shirt that had a message that was somewhat pro-war or pro-administration.]

I am curious about how those who are so vitriolic towards those that question this administration’s actions, reconcile this basic suppression of free speech? * Have we reached a point that a person cannot wear a T-shirt espousing a political message? * [Her t-shirt did not have what might be considered vulgar words and, from what I have read, it was under a jacket.] This was not a carefully controlled [well, it was controlled] Republican Party gathering. This was a gathering in the Capitol, a public building. Ms. Shehan was invited by a Congressman to attend.

* Have we reached a point were one should be arrested because she “might” cause a scene during the speech? In other words, because of the “war on terror” have we reached a point were a citizen’s fundamental right of free speech should be abridged? *

You should note that Ms. Sheehan was later released. The charges against her were dropped as being unsustainable.

How did I miss this thread the first time around? KINKY FOR GOVERNOR! You must be an Imus fan like me! I thought I was among the few “progressives” on these boards…good to know I’m not alone! Navy2010, me and Bill…

When I used to live in NY, I listened to “Imus in the morning” everday. [I can still hear that jingle.]
Anyway, we sent our son a Kinky bobblehead doll. With witty sayings like:

“Why the hell not.” and “How hard could it be.”

Want to support Kinky, visit his website and order a bobblehead doll. Along with the autographed poster, Son has it up in his room. He argues that Kinky is more of an entertainer than a politician and thus such displays are permitted despite the ban on political messages. [A budding lawyer if I can get him off that science track!] If we in Texas are lucky, maybe he will be the next governor. Anything is better than “HairBoy” Perry and, maybe, even better than “one tough grandma” Strayhorn Keeton Rylander.

Progressives? Your badge of courage and your small “band of parents” doesn’t necessarily equate to intelligence. Our President has no control of the Capital Police, and like you off handedly commented - a Senator’s wife (with support the Troops-shirt) was also escorted from the assemblage prior to the State of the Union Address. No outward demonstration of any kind is tolerated during these gatherings mostly to protect Congressman! So all your hatred towards a Republican President has little merit. His MBA at Harvard just was something Im sure [ usna09mom, navy2010, Bossf51, Bill0510] could do any weekend. In addition, you all might want to solve all terrorists threats, Homeland Security, the border issue, lunch program for schools and rebuild New Orleans without any criticism for the Press and
you 4 plus the 5 other listeners to Progressive talk radio.

Bill…
Just responding to your post concerning Cindy Sheehan (btw, you forgot to mention the GOP guy’s wife that was removed for her tee shirt with the “support the troops” logo)

I have been in DC attending planned marches for about 8-9 years now. We are forbidden entry to the Senate buildings & Capitol by the security staff if we do not remove our arm bands, stickers, or any outward display of what we are protesting …none can be visible. All banners and signs must be left outside.

It appears that this is standard operating procedure, whether you are a Senator’s wife, a cause-celebrity, or just a regular citizen.
