Some colleges don't have enough (good?) students and will pay you to go?

<p>I heard that some colleges do not have enough good students and will pay you to attend. Or perhaps not enough students in general. Is this true?</p>

<p>“Pay you to attend” is a bit of an exaggeration but some schools offer merit aid to attract the best students, which can substantially reduce the cost. See:</p>

<p>They don’t pay you to attend, technically. What often happens is they will give you a scholarship for the full cost of room/board/tuition, and then any outside scholarships you may have earned get refunded back to you.</p>
