Some help for a low scorer?

Obviously this forum attracts very intelligent people, but you seem a a friendly bunch so I’ll just throw this out there. It seems like most of you had a relatively high baseline score, hit the practice tests, and turned a great score into an incredible score. Say somebody scores a 22 their sophomore year after a night of cramming. I feel that, while hitting the practice tests will be helpful, there are other things that might raise someone’s baseline score. First thing that pops into my head is reading. But would certain types of books be more beneficial than others? Maybe those videos on Khan Academy? If I may ask, what made you guys do so well going into the test before you even prepped? Was it just a lifetime of intellectual curiosity and work-ethic in school that can’t possibly be made up for in a year and a half?
Basically, what would you guys suggest for trying to catch up intellectually?

Take the hardest classes and get some practice books :)
