When I was only a junior in high school,
with enough AP classes to make me a fool,
I made my college list, nine school tops,
some short reaches, some long gallops–

Happily for me in April’s time,
I found reason to sing and to rhyme,
For WUSTL sent me one endearing letter
that said “You’re great! (But we’ll make you better!)”

Oh WashU, I know that I am not perfect,
I only have a 4.4, I’m top scholar in the district,
I can only juggle basketballs while pH-ing buffers,
I only wanted to improve, to make myself tougher.

When I visited you, I saw the picture was true.
A character of serenity, tranquility, such lovely hue.
Brookings greeted me with two long arms,
but it was South 40 that did it, that hidden charm!

I’m so glad you accepted my love, my WUSTL,
Let’s make this commitment a tango-like bustle,
Four years of romance, high strung adventure,
Full of knowledge and neverending ventures!
