Some questions about Unearned Grants and Loans

So I have been accepted to Boston College with a 30k scholarship, about 6000 in Federal Grants, 3500 in loans, and 2400 in work study, my efc is basically 13k.

Now, my parents are divorced and my father is remarried and now works abroad at large intergovernmental organization. Because he has some sort of diplomatic status, he may be eligible to receive a grant that can reach as much as 36000 a year.

Reading through BC’s finaid website it says, when it comes to unearned grants like that, they would reduce BC’s scholarship first rather than loans/work study. Do you think I can haggle with BC to treat this as a regular scholarship so it covers work study/loans first and then start to dip into their scholarship?

Or should I just forget the grant, and have my dad pay out of pocket the 13k a year (for fear of losing bc and federal grant money) since 14000 in loans doesn’t seem like a big deal to me, but I would rather not have to do work study in order to fund my studies
