I have a few random questions that I’ll just group together so as not to create an excess of threads.

1) If I want to bring a bike onto campus (Livingston, specifically), do they have a special spot to keep them (my girlfriend at Penn State says her dorm has a bike basement), or will I have to keep it on a bike rack? I don’t really want to risk the chance of getting my lock picked and losing it.

2) For the NB Business School, on testing on May 9th, do we have to take a foreign language placement test? The Scarlet Guide didn’t specify which school have to take them. (At least I am exempt from the English test!)

3) Will there be more admitted students days? I wasn’t aware of the one two weeks ago seeing as I enrolled practically the night before, but I would like to attend one and I’m sure my friend would as well.

where did you find placement test dates? and i think its too late for admitted students day. about 2 weeks until decisions. but if you’re def going, does it matter?

A few days ago, i got something in the mail that was a large packet-like “Scarlet Guide” with a lot of information regarding things you have to do to get ready for school in the fall. On the inside flap, they provide you with a school-specific smaller brochure that has information about testing, class registration, and other specific things. I enrolled only shortly before I received it, so I’m sure yours is on the way (assuming you enrolled).

(1) In terms of the bike question. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is anywhere “safe” where you can park your bike =( My advice to you is to perhaps park your bike on the bike racks, but remove both wheels and keep it in your dorm. You can register your bike with the RUPD (they told this to us back during freshman orientation), that way if it is lost, they’ll have an easier time tracking it down.

(2) I believe it’s only for students in the School of Arts and Sciences. I would check to make sure. It’s not really important unless you plan on learning a specific language that you have been learning for the past few years and fear being put in an introductory course.

(3) You still have the Summer Orientation session. I think it’s something new because I didn’t have that last summer prior to me entering Rutgers.

yeah bikes get stolen/effed around with on a regular basis so keep that in mind. and the fire department has something against keeping bikes indoors. so what mushaboom suggested would be your best bet.

no you do not have to take a language test unless you are considering taking a language at rutgers. it also matters for the program that you are interested in: i know that the GSE requires a full year of a language and you need to be up to at least an intermediate 132 level to qualify for phi betta kappa, the highly coveted national honor society. I’m not sure about other programs though.

and the summer orientation program is new, something sas took from drc, which is something mccormick seems to like to do. i believe it’s an overnight sleepover, but i’m not sure.

and rutgers day isn’t so much an accepted students day as it is a marketing scheme.
