Somebody please reverse chance me?

Give me some schools to apply to that are still open. I’ve been rejected from my first-choice college ED. It was a really prestigious college and I knew I didn’t have much of a chance. I applied to 17 other schools, some of which I’m horrendously underqualified for. My top picks are liberal arts colleges in the Northeast. I feel like I’m shooting myself in the foot when it comes to college apps because I have such low stats.

Please don’t attack me in the comments. I’m already very ashamed and embarrassed because of my performance.

California Bay Area, Silicon Valley, Chinese female
GPA: 2.97 UW/ 3.0 W
SAT/ACT: n/a
APs: World History, Music Theory, English Literature, Environmental Science, and Psychology
(school doesn’t offer IB or let students take more than 3 APs a year, don’t let freshmen take APs)

ECs:

  • volunteer at Eating Disorder Resource Center (12)
  • advocate for Eating Disorder Organization Project HEAL (12)
  • counselor-in-training at summer camp (11,12)
  • wrangler-in-training at summer camp (11)
  • rode horses, didn’t compete (9,10,11,12)
  • volunteered at horse ranch I went to (9,10,12)
  • attended a songwriting summer camp held by the Grammys, wrote two songs to get admitted (12)
  • played piano recreationally (9,10,11,12)
  • took singing lessons recreationally (12)
  • co-founder/coordinator (10)

Essays/LORs:
I thought my essays were pretty good, however, I cannot judge myself on that. I knew they were my last hope because of my subpar grades. One of my LORs came from a teacher who knew me really well and loved me (we still talk despite COVID and me not being in any of his classes). My other LOR came from a teacher who seemed to like me but I don’t know how well she actually knew me.

Additional info:
I had two family deaths in my sophomore and junior years of high school. I suffered an eating disorder and wrote about it in the additional info section of the common app.

Apply to some CSUs if you haven’t missed the application deadlines.

You should also apply to your local California community college. Take the courses there and get excellent grades, then finish at a CA public university.

This will be your best and most inexpensive option.

Otterbein has an equine department if you would like to continue working with horses and many other majors. It’s located in Westerville, Oh adjacent to Columbus.

Wheaton (MA) might be within range.

Do you have any financial constraints? Some of the private schools being recommended to you are pretty costly.

Make sure your choices are affordable ones as well.

Check out the CTCL schools (https://ctcl.org/) There are some great schools on that list and many will accept students with your stats.

A couple of these are not technically LACs, but they are on the smaller-enrollment end of the spectrum.

Also, Siena and Stonehill (if Catholic is ok) and Susquehanna and Washington & Jefferson.
