I desperately need someone’s advice. Here is my dilemma:

Ok, I’m not bragging or anything but I am a fairly smart person. Basically, if I study I can easily pull an A. I was lazy in high school and slacked off, so I ended up at UC Riverside. I then made a promise that I wouldn’t slack off ever again. As a result, after finishing my first year at UCR, I earned a 3.93 cumulative GPA. I also applied to USC as a transfer during my freshman year at UCR, and got into USC as a sophomore. But here’s the twist: I was admitted for the Spring. I’ve finished almost every course necessary for USC’s GE requirements, so it would be a waste of my money to go back to UCR for another quarter. So basically I have about 5 months of nothing to do.

Here’s the deal though: I’m very serious about making my law school application look as flawless as possible. I know that if I keep up my 3.9+ GPA throughout college and ace my LSATs, I will land one of the top 20 law schools. I’m very scared, however, that this 5 month time-gap will raise doubtful questions in adcoms’ minds. One person told me I should travel for 5 months and volunteer abroad, as this will look good on my law school applications. I’m serioulsy considering this as of now because it’s my only feasible option.

What should I do in this time gap??? Any advice would be appreciated. Please help me!
